Quote Khlav Kalash="Khlav Kalash"Ultimately its a money grab, there isn't enough around so the 10 clubs in SL 1 will have the dosh, sl2 will become the championship and over time its funding will decrease, then the 10 in SL1 will want further more of the pie and reduce it to 8, playing each other 4 times to make ends meet.
I'm not adverse to dropping down a division to something that is more our level in terms of resource, as competing in a lower division (not guaranteed) will be more enjoyable than what's been served up over the past 20 years, with a few blips of a decent season in dotted amongst it (2004, 2008 2009, 2017, 2018).'"
The first paragraph is absolutely on the money and it will definitely end up being SL (with 10 clubs) and a renamed 2nd tier.
Just because they may call it SL2, it will be in just the same position as the Championship is now (or worse) as there is less money to go round.
This is how people force through unwonted changes, wrap the idea up in fancy words, so that it doesn't sound too bad and then, before you know it, you've signed up and then been utterly shafted.
They do say, be careful what you wish for and if we're not careful, this is one of those situations where, we will end up getting screwed over.
As for dropping a division ?
If this were to happen, Trinity would NEVER return to SL.
They have wanted rid of Trinity since we gained promotion and with Sky monies getting tighter and tighter, we are more likely than ever to see the drawbridge pulled up and we need to be on the right side of the bridge if this happens.
I drive past Newmarket every other day and they are putting up units for fun.
What on earth happened to our new ground or, even the BV revamp.
The development could give Trinity a much needed boost, both on and off the field and boy, do we need it.
