The tax relates to a commonly used loop hole in which overseas players were paid a portion of their wages. HMRC want their piece of this now taxable salary and are coming after sports clubs.

Burrow is quoted in the Sun Article saying ` I tried all day to contact the club ` etc etc, so by definition he did not have the clubs side of the story before he started blabbing his mouth of to the Sun. Very very unprofessional behaviour he should be sacked and made to pay damages.

He represents the players not the club - that's his job.

So what could simpler than being patient and try calling the club again before plastering the situation all over the National press.

For what its worth I rang the club three times on Monday, 8 times on Tuesday, 6 times on Wednesday and 3 times on Thursday. On every occasion the phone was answered quickly, plesantly and efficiently by staff in the new marketing suite which is ` manned ` by two members of staff.

I think Burrow did not try very hard to make contact with the club and could not get the Sun quick enough with his pathetic tale. Not the actions you would expect from a man representing employees of the club

yes he represents the players but he should do this in a professional way, not the tardy, underhand, scheming, sneaky, kiss and tell, red top, way of scuttling to the press.
