| I seem to recall around Christmas I had heard he was involved in some kind of trouble in Hull.
Could his and Hull KR's problems have snowballed from this, and that is why Hull KR are apparently wanting rid.

| This is a tricky one indeed.
I can’t believe anyone thinks we can last the season with two H/B’s one of whom is great but knocking on in years. There is no doubt we need backup sooner rather than later, for me it’s an
absolute fact.
Is Kelly the right kind of player. Well he’s unfit for a start and that is always a worry - we all remember that fat burger guzzling prop from a few years back. Even worse he’s joining a team who’s game is heavily based on stamina IMO. Still he wouldn’t hopefully go straight in so he’d have time to get fitter.
What really worries me is that Kelly is a really good player and the temptation to play an unfit him at the slightest sign of a blip would be overwhelming and this could destroy moral at a stroke.
If we are fortunate enough to get this talented maverick then it must be made clear from the start that he will have to wait for his chance and that wait could be a long one.

| If Kelly did/is signing for us he must be directly told that he must wait for a injury or loss of form of a halfback. While he is waiting he should be put on a strict fitness/dieting regime which will shed a few pounds off him and also improve his fitness thus basically playing catch up with the rest of the squad. I know fitness is different compared to match fitness but you can still contribute regular fitness into match fitness. This may also may give him valuable time to recover from niggles/injuries which a fitness and dieting regime should improve the healing.
However, I doubt this is true and I would rather have a British talent ready as a back up, nurturing ready for the step up into the big league. Maybe another enquiry into the young halfback we was looking at London?

| According to the London Broncos website, Joe Keyes is injured, and is facing 3 months on the sidelines.
If we were looking at a half back out of the championship, we were looking at Dion Aiye from Whitehaven a while ago, and didnt he score something like 5 tries against Batley earlier in the season.

Not sure how true the rumours are over there but he's reputed to be on £4k a week, so you can bet his mate will be on similar if true, so it's no surprise they're allegedly wanting shut in an effort to bring new recruits into the club.

| Not sure it's a Sammut but certainly the potential to be another Kevin Locke. Kelly is a loose cannon though and seems to land himself in trouble repeatedly.
As stated above though we do require cover/competition at HB, if he is being jettisioned by HKR and paid up he may be an affordable option until the end of the season. Our own Mr Chester would know how manageable he is or whether he could undo all the good work of the last month within one morning's training.

| If he is on £4k per week, then I honestly don't think he is quite worth that much at the moment, and if we could afford that salary, I would be tempted to look around to see if there are any other options before taking a punt, who may not be as much of a loose cannon, and could cause trouble.
I don't think he is another Sammut, Kelly is younger, and has played more NRL games, than Sammut, to me that is a strong indicatioh he is a better player.
I do think signing a third half back though would be a good move, as competition is always healthy, to reduce complacency.

| Quote bellycouldtackle="bellycouldtackle"we don`t have any cover at half back, we have players like Hall, Tansey and Jowitt who would give it a good go. To have a player of Kelly`s quality in the squad would be fantastic. He is undoubtedly a first class half back, a genuine match winner. If we find ourselves in the middle 8`s , Kelly would , could make the difference. If we have the chance of getting him we would be mad not to take him.'"
Exactly this.
Up until 3 weeks ago, it was all the talk on here that we had no hb cover. Just because we have won a few games, that problem hasn't gone away and i will be amazed if we see the season out with Finn & Miller not having a spell on the sidelines.
Right here, right now, the option of Kelly, who Chester knows all about and on his day is as good as most in the league, or a project from the Championship such as Brian Smiths love child Joe Keyes, its surely an absolute no brainer??
Have faith in CC to pick the right players and have faith in MC/CB to get them at a price that works for us!

| On his day he wouldn't be far off in the top 3 halfs in the league he was brilliant last season and i for 1 have been really disappointed how things have turned out this season with him, i really hope this is all rumours and he comes back fit and firing for us, but something isn't right and i think him getting shown the door won't be far off the mark, but if rumours are to be believed he was one of the main orchestrators of chesters down fall and wanted CC out because the players felt he was out of his depth

When we played you early in the season he looked dangerous when he had the ball.
As for the rumours if they are right, I think that might put to bed any thoughts of him coming our way.
