Quote: Homer_J_Simpson "Calm down dear, it was only a friendly.

That said, if I were a Wakey fan, I'd be a bit worried about the coming season.

Was quite shocked at how poor you were and someone needs to get a grip of your squad's fitness ASAP. They were blowing after 20 mins and looked absolutely buggered by the end.

Maybe you should rent the purpose built Rugby League fitness suite a few miles down the A645 from you
The team all round today was poor, we will get better when our over seas players get here, but flat caps off to fev they did play well, big let down running out of burgers

I have to congratulate Featherstone on their performance today. They defended with intensity and strength. They also for the main had a decent sliding defence. All the team played with passion and grit. In attack they threw the ball about well and completed many set moves including a great second try (or third). I'm not going to mention about who was missing etc as its 13 v 13 and they deserved the win.

Overall I was disappointed with Wakefield's performance but certainly not despondent for the season. The start was woeful not just in the first pass and dropped ball but in the many mistakes that lead to a 16-0 lead. We regrouped well and scored two tries. Collis always looked dangerous and on a firmer pitch would have had an even greater impact.

Critically IMO I thought our passing was poor at times around the knees and ankles. Also our last kick options do not relieve pressure enough for the team from deep and are not challenging enough in the final third. They scored a few tries out wide and it would be interesting to watch back our sliding defence to see what areas we could improve on.

Other than Collis, thought Kirmond worked hard and I'm sure there was other stand out players but it was that cold my eyes couldn't grasp who was doing what!

Historically friendlies in all sports throw up a whole range of results so I'm not overly fussed. We got another 80 minutes of fitness, 2 young debutants and another game closer to Salford!!

The new lads arriving will be a boost and I'm sure the intensity, sharpness and efficiency in training will continue to improve as we get closer to the season!

A sudden influx of Fev fans ganging up on me!

I stand by what I said though - it was a horrible afternoon and the rugby was of a pretty low standard; Fev did the basics well and we didn't. And the stadium is dire - like a smaller, scruffier BV, without the saving grace of an excellent pitch.

I'll probably feel better when I've thawed out.

Glad RA was pleased with Jordans stint,to be fair,I think a bit more game time would not have been out of place, thought he'd scored with his first touch, but a proud dad indeed, forget the result chuffed to bits with his 15min stint. eusa_clap.gifget ready for the back lash in training next week.Well done Fev,deserved your win eusa_clap.gif

This, was going to say similar so you've saved me 5 mins. I'd also add that I thought Annakin had a decent game as well.

What a pathetic post bren, there was plenty of skill on show and it was all bar a couple of flashes from collis from feather stone I hope these Aussies that are coming are internationals because on today's evidence its gonna be a long hard season. I was accused last season of being unfair t to mathers well I'm afraid he looks even worse now and if you can't see that he's gonna cost us a heap of games this year

Possible difference this year for Mathers is players who can replace him. With other options at centre both Smith and Sykes could replace him so he needs to up his game.
Saying that he has time to get it right.

Belle Vue has many faults but is still bigger and better than post office road + we have a proper pitch.

I normally back your posts Bren but we are in no position to moan at other club's stadium.

From the game point of view, both sets of players got their appropriate return on effort to me.
But it doesn't mean we'll play like this in first game. It'll be tough in Wales next week.
