| Quote: El Rey "Ferres will lay it on the line that Cas are struggling, he'll ask the Fans to dig in and take up the season ticket offer, he'll offer them a view of what may happen if they don't.
IMO he'll not be telling them anything they don't already know.
Most clubs are treading a fine line at the moment, doubt it will be any worse than that, no doubt that'll not please a few on here.'"
You might be surprised El Rel.
Although we may not invite our friends from Cas out for Christmas dinner, we do like the love-hate relationship and we would certainly miss them if they weren't there.
SL without Cas would be a poorer place.
I'm sure there would be some gloating if something treminal happened but, that would quickly wear off and then we'd miss them (much as Celtic will be missing Rangers.
The derby games are the first fixtures most of us look for and although there was the hassles of good Friday, generally its good natured rivallry.

| C,MON, lets sell BV, WR, & Post office RD and all move in together in a purpose built stadium at newmarket, which will have to be re- designed to take the extra supporters say 20,000 plus, and all the money coming in from ground sales and extra corporate will enable us to buy the best players in the world and be the best team in superleague.
Just a minute let me put my tin hat on before all the bullets arrive.

With the benefit of hindsight, that may have been the thing to do before the inception of SL but, however many years later, its probably not realistic.
Many years ago there was talk of having a team called "Calder", based around Normanton and if we could turn the clock back, knowing what we all know now
then, maybe it could have been a runner.
However, with the clubs becoming more entrenched in doing their own thing, the long term possibly means that there will be only one SL club in the area and
it seems to have become a battle of wills as to which of the three clubs it will be.
Of course an unbiased opinion says it should be Wakefield (being a city with larger population and more potential etc) but, who knows ?

If we take away the Cas, Featherstone , Pontefract, Hemsworth and Knottingley areas off the total it's around 220k or so.

Sill a fairly sizeable market. I've always thought we ought to have the potential to be a big club; we are a medium sized city, even with the Cas/ Featherstone population factored out of WMDC

| Most of the extreme 2mill in debt 600k tax bill doom & gloom cas rumours are coming from non cas fans and with cas been such a small town if admin was around the corner it would be out by now + they wouldn't be holding a fans forum to say thanks for coming we're going into admin. Regarding Newmarket, selling WR clearing debts and moving in Newmarket spending full cap might become attractive to some of their fans.

| I think it would be a disaster for Cas if they went to Newmarket, because I don't think they would attract nearly as big a support as Wakey, as the fans would know that they are playing in Wakey's stadium, regardless of what they call it. Which would mean that come franchise time, the RFL could make an exact comparison against another team from the same district, and I am not sure Cas would come out of it well. Also, the increased attendance for Wakey would mean more money, which would attract the best players, because when both teams play out of the same place, what is there to compare against for the players.
So if Cas go to Newmarket, they will always be the poor relations.
As for Wakey, it makes no difference. We are going there regardless of Cas, and so our gain is minor (reduced rent?).
I don't reckon Ferres will think like that, and I wouldn't be surprised if the meeting is to sell the notion of Newmarket to the fans, with a doomsday scenario if they don't go.

If Cas went to share a community stadium at newmarket with the wildcats surely they would have cash from the sale of WR to fund a team, pay off debts and a bit more left over to pay rent putting them in a good position to deffo satisfy even the RFL incompitant management.

Agree, the target market is pretty sizable and with a move to a new stadium along with a constantly improving side, with the right marketing and community work we should be aiming for 10k crowds imo, it's going to take time but I see no reason why it isn't achievable.

It wouldn't last forever though, and by then, your support will have dwindled. A proud town club no longer playing in the town. There is just the risk that it will be obvious which is the bigger club when you can make an exact comparison. It may be that splashing the cash can get over the hurdle for the first few years, by putting a winning team on the park, and by then franchising will be dead anyway.
I got the impression pretty quickly from Ferres that Glasshoughton was dead in the water, and so I think that will be the sales pitch, Newmarket or bust. He will take you out of the town, and then with his short attention span, he'll be off somewhere else.
