Im sure he'll add depth to a number of positions that will over all add strength to the squad, however i wish we didnt have to sign such players.

Have to say I was initially against this signing, I don't like what he has been involved in - that said he is undoubtedly a talented player. I think you have hit the nail on the head here, it's time for him to grow up. If he fails this chance then he's an idiot.

Someone did mention on here not long back that he would be signing on a final written warning for us. If so it’s a good deal for us, if he carries on acting like a tool we can ship him out immediately.

Sounds like a good deal for both parties. If he frames himself and takes this last chance then he has a future and the club have a good player on their hands that can cover a number of positions. If he feels the need to destroy his career then the club can get shut easily. Hope he signs up and makes the most of it.

Unless his contract is with SL (and thus a continuation of both his contract and any on going disciplinary procedures) and not us, that sounds unnecessary and almost certainly illegal under employment law.
If he cocksup, and it warrants termination of contract, that'll be that.

You can't do that. Employment law isn't that easy.
You can detail what would constitute gross misconduct to make it clearer but you'd still have to go through a process.

It was bens idea to start on a final warning. I'm not up on employment law so wouldn't know the legal implications of such a deal. Think ben us trying to show that he knows it's his last chance saloon and that he's determined not to mess up.

Ability wise, great signing.

PR/morally wise its a tricky one, but we're hardly whiter than white as a club and sport so I suppose one more won't hurt.

Hopefully he will be quicker than Grix, althought it doesn't take much to be quicker than him.

Makes no difference who's idea it is.You can't just agree to ignore a law and I'm pretty certain that if it came to the crunch and Mr Cockayne was facing the sack any decent solicitor would rapidly point out that such a contract with said clause isn't worth the paper it's written on.Forgive me for being cynical but the guy has already shown that warnings etc just do not sink in so what's changed in 6 month?If the club want the guy and he does sign then it will be on a contract with the same legal footing as all the other players.Ben may spin this line to get the sympathy vote and promote his "rehabillitation" but it means nothing in the real world.Purely from a Wakefield point of view If he does sign I hope he goes great guns and turns into a asset not a risk.Time will tell.
