I don't know where you have got the idea we are suddenly rich, AG has a very modest fortune most of which I doubt he will spend on us. He's certainly no Ken Davey.

As for space under the cap, that's fine but it doesn't mean we can afford it. Simply put, even with AG's modest support our turnover doesn't compete with most SL clubs - thus we were, are and will remain cash strapped. Don't kid yourself otherwise.

That's just daft; Mr G has said on numerous occasions that he'll make the full salary cap available next season and when asked at the Q&A if he was looking for other investors, he clearly stated that no he wasn't, because he didn't need them.

I know you like to plead moderation in respect of the impact of Ted's reign, but to suggest that the club under AG is in a broadly similar financial situation to the Richardson regime is just silly.

Just out of interest how is it your privvy to the balance of Andrew Glovers bank account? He might be filthy rich for all you or anyone else knows.

I think you'll also find that James Elston said that to spend the full cap we needed 10,000 gate average and that every 1000 fans equated to a reduction in spend of (I think) £100,000. So we can spend to full cap if we can persuade fans to come in, if we average 7,000 then we are looking at spending £300,000 less than full cap.
Remember the most important factor in all this is AG making us a sustainable business and he will not just go out and blow money for the sake of it.

I'm not kidding myself. AG himself said we were now able to spend up to the salary cap. A comment upon which I based my remark.

Yes I get the points everyone has made but when AG gets down to the nuts and bolts of running the club he might not be quite so bold especially if we end up NL1 bound.

As for the club being in the same situation - it flipping is. Sure the balance sheet reads better for now but unless revenue increases eventually we will end up back where we have been for forty years.

The point I'm making about AG is he hasn't got the funds IMO to buffer that long term.

Trinity as it stands at the moment is a money pit and unless it's redeveloped or we move to NM it will remain so.

Mr Davey is a very wealthy man but it's no real coincidence that he really became interested in Hudds when they moved to the McAlpine and became viable.

I don't see why everyones feels that AG is the messiah with all the answers and is beyond reproach - we hardly know him - that said I'm not even reproaching him I'm stating the fecking obvious IMHO.

A number of inaccuracies in there. To be honest the pitch thing is a red herring. RL doesn't damage the pitch, football does during the winter months.

I haven't a clue what has been written in the franchise application - I don't know who has and hasn't on this forum. I would have thought that they would have put together the strongest application they could and if anyone has leaked any of this they should no longer have a job connected with the club. To say that AG has rolled over to the RFL with regards to Barnsely without knowing the full facts is not fair. Remember a few weeka ago we didn't even know if we would play out this season in SL.
