| Quote: vastman "Other than one year from McNally have we ever had any success with Aussie coaches, Smith and Webster being the last two.
Although it's tempting for smaller clubs like ours I believe the Aussie in question must have played/coached in the UK previously. They do ok at big clubs where money is no problem but at smaller clubs, I honestly think they need to have some basic understanding of the English game and English players.
JD is an obvious but sadly unavailable example'"
Think smith did more than some realise no coincidence we wher good for a couple of years after his departure

Read back through your posts, always name dropping Poptart because of his opinions.
What do you mean old habits?

Wayne wouldn’t stand it with this lot he’s a total disciplinarian, his preparation is second to none, the one thing about Wayne when at Wigan is he doesn’t suffer fools or big time Charlie’s

There may be a few Aussies who see the super league as a way to get an NRL head-coach job as per Justin Holbrook and Trent Robinson. The problem will be that we'd regard a top-six finish as a good result whereas it wouldn't register with the NRL. Holbrook took Saints back to the top.
There are two types of coaches: those who can coach very good players to be better (Holbrook, Robinson) and those who can get a lot out of players who aren't so good (Kear, Powell).
Arguably, a disciplinarian is needed, to kick some butt and get people fit, but because there isn't much going the club other than the team spirit, that is probably a bad decision. Danny Ward fit the bill for the job of getting a lot out of not-so-good players.
Looking at MC's comments re potential postponements, perhaps CC was too honourable and it cost him (along with other things).

| Quote: TimmySmith "Where is Tony these days?'" he lives in Knottingley now spoke to him a couple of month ago he’s doing fine. A very underrated coach and it was a pleasure working with him for a number of years with our academy and on various junior camps. I asked him if he fancied one more go at it but he totally fell out with the game and the way it was run and being played

| I'd happily settle for Shaun Wane. I don't particularly like the guy or his over aggressive style of play, but he certainly knows how to get the best out of players. If it meant watching a winning team I'd overlook his faults.

Do you not think he’d be a stop gap? As soon as it’s coming up to the World Cup, he’d drop us to focus on England.
