| Quote Sandal Cat="Sandal Cat"A good win but lets keep our feet on the ground. Widnes were pretty poor and will be better when they get Briscoe, Watts, Phelps and Kite in the team.
That said I thought our defence in the first half was fantastic and even with a 10-4 deficit at half time I was confident that if we got a fair share of the ball in the second half we would come out on top. Very pleased with the spirit we appear to have - Ali Lauatiti was going mental when Widnes passes into touch he was fired up that much.
A good start and I think as the team plays together more and more we will improve even more and trouble some of the top Clubs but we have to deliver next week against Hull KR as they are one of the teams we must beat at Belle Vue if we have play off aspirations.
Overall very pleased with the start and now looking forward to next Sunday.'"
Normally I'd agree with you but on this occasions I think you and a few others may be under selling last nights win. Yes we will play much better (technically) teams and may be found wanting. However IMHO we will not face a more committed, brutal and physical 40 minutes than that all season. There are bigger and supposedly better teams who would have cracked under that pressure and had Widnes more class I reckon almost any team would have come unstuck.
It was a massive performance for a first game and new team and with the early try disallowed and a glut of possession going Widnes way showed great determination, team work and skill.
Won't see many better more hard won wins than that by any team this season.

| A good all round performance. Held out brilliantly in the first half and our extra quality told in the second. Good thing is I feel there is still improvement in us and if we can stay healthy it should be a good season.

| Your quality came through in the end, Widnes was always going to be tough, back in SL, first game at home etc
Made some good signings and the spirit in the team showed, two good wingers, two good S/R forwards, experinced NRL scrum half and hooker. Things looking up at Wakey.
Next week should be a good game!

| I think I'm the first Wire fan to say this, but heartfelt congratulations on that performance last night. It was a great opener to the season.
A new coach, new players, new Wakefield. Looked to be in good shape across the field.
Looking forward to our matches, hoping for more competitive games compared to the last couple of seasons.
Agar seems to have got you into the right gear.
You should all be holding your heads high. Keep it up.

I hope my post didn't come over as being negative as it wasn't intended to be but merely stating that we should not get too carried away after one win.
I would agree it was a massive performance for a first game and a new team and I believe we will only get better but we will also face better sides. As I said I was delighted with the performance and particular pleased with the spirit we showed.
All things taken into consideration I think this Club is going places.

I know you weren't being negative - it's sometimes force of habit amongst Trinity fans to perhaps be over cautious on occasions. I do it myself instead of enjoying the moment, we are like over protective parents (which I am also one)

Very true, there needs to be a few cautious voices to avoid getting too carried away! Remember the hysteria over the win in France around this time last year...

| I think cautious optimistic is fine at this stage. Who wouldn't be after watching our team play with heart, fire and determination. I've spent many a year watching many a game at Belle Vue and me and my dad have been looking down Doncaster Road shaking our heads wishing why the hell have we travelled all this way from Crewe to see a total lack of application and effort. When you travel on a coach with a fantastic group of fellow supporters and your team performs like that it makes me really proud and it's no wonder all our fans are buzzing today and many a fan from opposing teams are sending their congratulations today now they've seen for themselves how good we actually are. So yes, cautious optimism indeed and let's hope for consistency and even more people will realise that this sleeping giant may be opening his eyes.
