Yup. And it tastes good.

| No humble pie from me (though I haven’t gone back to read the comments)
I was happy with Smith’s appointment at the time and when I met him I found him quite an inspirational kind of guy. He was exactly what we needed at the time. Could he have done what Chester has done if he’d stayed? I’m not sure he could but we’ll never know. Is Chester benefiting from him being the coach before him? I think so yes.
We were on a sinking ship at the time and so forming a top 4 side was a long way from the plan. But he got us organised and recruited a couple of good players that are still here.
And if nothing else, he is the start of the revolution. His team, probably against the odds, beat Chester’s Hull KR team which forced Rovers to sack Chester. A few weeks later Smith made his exit in true divorce type drama, to make way for a refreshed Chester. The rest is history.
I wish him well.

| Lol. Now I've gone back to look at a few of the comments I see what you mean DC.
Not all those posters posting are allowed to post now. But some on here could do with reading it again.

| I read some of the posts earlier today.
Yes, there are quite a few who no longer post.
My apologies of the doubting, when all the uncertainty was around. The turnaround has been quite remarkable.
Some think the turnaround began straight after the MPG, but I think it was after that.
If you count the win at home to Huddersfield in 2016, as the turn around, it isn't even two years.
There was though, some rather astute signings by Smith, and also Webster

Cant blame the fans DC, at that point we were at the bottom of a very deep ravine and the actions of Smith (Tim) and Locke, seemed to have us at our lowest ebb.
Brian Smith did have a decent record as coach and perhaps only you and he know the actual facts.
Forums are a hot bed of over reaction in both directions, overstating how good things are in the good times and utterly desperate when things aren't going to plan.
At the time I didn't think Chester was the man to put Trinity anywhere near where we currently are but, I'm more than happy to be wrong.
What does seem obvious now is that Trinity and Smith weren't right for each other.
All water under the bridge now and they say "never look back", which seems wholly appropriate.
Onwards and upwards and if we can ever sort the ground issue out, Wakefield would be the envy of much of the RL world.
Also worth remembering that most of the fans were right about Mr Agar

I didn't say a top coach. Right a team with B. Tupou, A.Tupou, Arona, England, Johnstone, BJB, Simon, Annakin - you're telling me any coach from the championship wouldn't want to coach these players?
I wouldn't want Chester and I'm not saying they can do better than Smith but I think some on here are really overrating Smith. Coaches don't always do well at certain clubs. Just because Smith did well at clubs with resources doesn't mean he would do well at Wakefield. Why would any coach stay at Batley/Dewsbury over a Super League club with the above players.
Smith didn't work miracles. He won a one off game against a team in a lower division. I don't think Smith did a particularly 'bad' job per say, but the reaction that people are having on here you'd think we wouldn't have only won 3 games all season last year (1 under smith, 2 under webster) against super league opposition.'"
Don't think I'll be putting this one on my CV
The power of hindsight...

I think this one is my personal favourite, although eastern wildcat ran him close on page 5

Tbf, the lad's clearly posted that after a bottle of whiskey. I was probably sober. Well, maybe...

Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| certain clubs seem to attract these kinds of trouble makers, they seem to just lie dormant until the first sign of trouble then all of a sudden 4 or 5 will just appear from nowhere like scavengers.Strange people who would be better finding something else to do with their spare time

| Apologies there Daddycool. I will eat some humble pie there, a very large piece.
It was pretty much straight after the event and in the heat of the moment.
Like someone earlier said, think a lot of the fans were very down at this point.
Hopefully we all and the club can keep looking at the here and now and take things even further, hopefully to that next level..

His post on page 2 is just as funny. You're the grim reaper apparently
One thing that is certain is that he's comfortably the worst poster on this forum.

| Thanks for the compliment there Jakey!
Is this because I'm not rose tinted on here like some, and not afraid to say what I think at the time.
If I am the worst poster on here then why did you waste your time trolling through the posts to find it and read It?
