| I actually have no idea how we will perform in this game. The squad is improved beyond all recognition but we have several players without experience at this level. I hope for the best but even defeat will be a good learning experience which will hold us in good stead for future games.

Agree. A good performance is what's needed- awin on top of that would be nice.

| Well we've seen the level of defence we are going to need in Super League now.
Bring it on.

| We could lose the first four or win a couple, either way the fans need to keep positive. A statement win would be really good but later in season with games against Cas or Hudds we will pick up wins. 8th-9th or 6th to 7th depends on how many "bigger" teams we can turn over so home games will be massive and a big crowd all season will help.

For me these four games are about performance. I'd love to win them but realistically we are still an unknown entity with question marks over pretty much the whole squad in one way or another.
I fear we aren't going to make much ground with what I saw from the Cas match, Uele aside.

Not sure we watched the same game. We made yardage for fun with Rodwell, Uele forwards and backs making yardage plenty both through the middle and edges.
If your basing our go forward on the Cas match I’d have thought you’d be quite enthusiastic.

First half I didn't see that, our yards came from shipping it wide or line breaks. Walmsley and Pratt were pretty much stopped dead.
Be more than happy if it turns out not to be the case tomorrow.

I thought both Pratt and Walmsley made plenty of yardage along with the rest of them both in breaks on the edges and bringing it out. Forwards were pretty dominant throughout.
Though Leeds will be a sterner test than that. Roll the sleeves up and get stuck in I guess. We will have a clearer picture later Saturday.
I hope Pratt’s nose is fine and that he is able to play with it.

yeah, I watched the game after tea and I noticed that on average our middles were making about 50 meters every 5 tackles while Cas seemed to make about 30 and they were always kicking from their own half. We also made big meters from our second rows and centres, which set up a number of our tries. It fits with how I remembered it on the day and it's why they got beat so handsomely, they had next to no go-forward, plus little idea in attack and we obviously defended well imo.
No doubt Leeds will be a different proposition and missing so many key players always takes a hit no matter which team it is but we are where we are and as long as we play with enthusiasm and keep errors to a minimum, hopefully it'll be a close game and we'll see where we end up.

Funnily enough when I was at the game, I thought we were poor in the forwards but when I rewatched the game back, they won almost every collision, we weren't spectacular in terms of post contact meters or anything, but you don't have to be to win a forward battle. If you take the first two tries for instance, it's no coincidence to see the man that takes the ball in the tackle before.. draws men in, lands on his front and gets a very quick play the ball, by the time the defense is back in the line, they have an attacking shape coming at them with very little time to do anything about it.

Correct, find your knees play the ball, Rodwell has been top drawer in this, but having said that, last night’s game was littered with laying on, 2nd and 3rd man in late and pulling and tugging by markers and no penalty, baffling after the free for all penalties over the last couple of seasons,

The most annoying thing for me is the holding one leg up and trying to almost stretch it. Farrell was a repeat offender for this and just comes across as a real grub move to me.
