Remember that day well, it was the day our first was born and I was trying to listen to the match on the radio in the birth suite. Stop your screaming woman, I'm trying to listen to the game and by the way we're winning!
Then I went home, as I'd had a hard day, and watched the replay on Scrumdown that night.

| No it was Ronnie Gibbs head bouncing off Phil Eden's knee/thigh, he whiplashed into the deck and the rest was wishing on a star.

Search Ronnie Gibbs on youtube and you can see the incident.

This.
It's very rare you come across a player like Jason that gives literally everything he has on the field, as you say not the most gifted but if I could replicate 1 player 1 to 13 JD would be it !
Hope to see him back one day as well as he seems to be making a fantastic name for himself as a coach.

Same here, gave his all for the shirt, I’m a bit biased also as he coached Jordan at Crigg all blacks and to top it off I’ve got his last shirt he wore away at Salford.True gent, my choice with Solamono a close second.

Yes he is doing very well coaching
Won the Queensland cup in his first coaching role with the northen pride then won it again when it was the state championship
Then was assistant coach when the cowboys won the GF
Won the state championship again with st George the year after
I think the fact that Wayne bennet then hand picked Jason to be his assistant coach at the broncos shows how good he is
Back to why I like him the best
He played on despite doctors advice he should have retired due to a bad back too
He was one of the best players we've had for taking the line on and breaking the line in SL
Not sure if there is any where that shows archived tackle busts, meters made offloads etc
But I'd bet his stats were exceptionally high
Also made the dream team if memory serves me correct ?

We always talk about attitude being as important as skill in young kids.
Attitude is what takes JD from being a pretty good player into a name mentioned alongside Wally Lewis, Ray Price, David Solomon.
He is nowhere near their level of skill..... But he'd make my all time overseas team.
And they are talking about JD as a good shout for the Manly job which is outstanding. Says he wants to stay in Brisbane but a top job is a top job.

| Yeah, I've heard Manly were after him but I always thought he was going to take over at the Broncos when WB retires, I think the Broncos would like it that way anyway.
Des Hasler's gone back to Manly so puts an end to that.

Completely agree
Some people peak then never improve
The naturally gifted players in the main
JD just kept getting better and you know that was down to attitude, determination, hard training and constantly wanting to be a better player
I'm sure he will get the same respect as a coach he did as a player

Did you start watching in about 2000ish. All fair calls bar Kemp nah, Obst is one along with BJ I have a soft spot for.
However I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the magnificent Ronnie Troutman!

| I could think of loads of names over the last 35 years & I was lucky enough to watch Wally Lewis although too young to realise how great he was but to pick out one, it would have to be Ray Price, a true champ.
I remember him sorting out Kelvin Skerrett at Odsal & also Wigan taking him out of the game in the CC quarter final.
