| You could actually say that Shudds getting use of the McAlpine Stadium was really the start of the mess we're all in today. For Shudds just read McAlpine. All began with "McAlpine" getting preferential elevation into Super League and being bomb proof for many years.
The RFL used the McAlpine card as unilateral reasoning and dragged the rest of us into the scenario! Henceforth the "Stadium" is the most important issue as far as the RFL is concerned.

Very true. Don't blame Hudds for that, definitely an RFL obsession. Similar to expansion, London set the template on how not to do it, and it's been the template followed ever since.

A very astute observation - I concur.

Damn right man. Build a team around a stadium and then do everything possible to keep them in the top flight.
If it all goes wrong, merge with a National league team and then sing to the world how good you are.

I must have missed franchises being around in 1994 or do you think its down to a forward thinking council?

| Don't worry if Shudds start losing 80-0 every week for 2 or 3 years the red-faced RFL will look at grounds being 50% full or not.
Be rest assured the franchise system is only here because the RFL nearly lost Wigan.

But what if the mutant offspring of that unholy union is a bit short of cash - say, a million quid short?!

No.
PS: You're not seriously suggesting the franchise has/will ever apply to you?

And Towns gates aren't that much higher these days.....they may announce crowds 'much' higher but thats becasue they count season tickets in every crowd regardless of whether there actually at the game !'"
If you shout for Fartown enough with a bit of luck you might get your wish.No Galpharm no Giants,Fartown,Sheff/Hudds" what ever you want to be called.......Simple!

It's time for the bitterness to stop folks, as you’re only starting to embarrass yourselves with threads like this.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

| Quote: CAT TRICK "Once again a rugby team playing in a football stadium gets the boot.
Huddersfield giants are to play there next three home games at The Shay Halifax, to allow for pitch repairs and grass growing at the Galpharm stadium.
This to me is a team who can't fulfill there home fixtures in there home ground and not a muffle from the RFL. IMO this is wrong VERY wrong. We have had Wigan at Sale and now this. Do you think the FA would allow this kind of thing in the premier league. What ever the RFL should NOT.
Surprised this has been brought up now its been known for months that Gaints will play a couple of games in Halifax.
When did Wigan play at sale?

| Don't really see what the issue is, all teams at some point in their history have been forced to play a handful of games away from their home to allow maintenance. Huddersfield will miss a few games, but their long term future at the Galpharm isn't in doubt

PS
That is a ridiculous thing to suggest. By inferring that the franchise DOESN'T apply to Huddersfield, implies that certain teams do not have to be of a decent standard, when they are already of that standard set out by the RFL. Wakey fans do not help them/ourselves sometimes when trying to be defensive and paranoid about the RFL and the franchising issue.
If Hudds did not do outreach community work, or finished outside the 8 each year, or were in administration at some point, or were playing out of a poor stadium - then YES they would be under threat, as we are for TWO of those points. The point is that they DO decent community work, they do finish WELL inside the 8 each year, are financially stable and play at a good stadium, but have to continue that to retain a grade a or grade b status.

You'll find out if Sheffield pick up a free weekend on the LFA calendar, rlWakefield CRLrl played there last year, its a lot like Thornes Park Athletics Stadium with a great club house.
