If you look long term and the proposed park and ride scheme that will be located in the town centre, what better place to have a club shop than the town centre close to the p&r.

Quote: Catwoman1 "The rent for shops in the Ridings is massive - why do you think so many of them have closed down?!!'"

Yes its a strange one that, put massive rents on shops and watch them stand empty, i'm sure they have good reason to loose money just can't think what it is.

Maybe they ought to have a re-think on that one.

Quote: Wakefield No 1 "Did anybody go to the store? we went, they invested in a big sign outside (just for the weekend???) and it was pretty busy.
Quote: Wakefield No 1 "They had the new RL game on the wii for kids to have a go on (great idea) along with Aaron Murphy and another player (not sure who) sat on the floor talking which looked a bit silly but they would have talked to people if anybody wanted to and signed autographs.'"
The shop is in a prime location near the lift on the top floor, finances obviously permitting but if it could be there all the time it would be a great thing for the club..Well done to those who thought of the idea and made it happen.
i went up saturday and sam obst and daryl millard were there hanging around the rugby league game talking to fans and even having a go. Presumably to promote the club and the match Friday icon_thumb.gif

good stuff!

now lets go talk to leeds united about sharing a shop in the new shiny shopping centre, coalitions are so popular at the moment and can work for all parties.

Quote: Khlav Kalash "The most sensible approach. Its got to be worth both camps' interests to get something arranged. The Ridings may as well have a unit occupied, even at a discount, which will also attract a fair number of potential consumers for the rest of the centre and Trinity could do with the city centre exposure. Also with the new Trinity Walk Development poised to be completed next year it could be a tool the Ridings could use to compete in any future retail war.'"

And, on a similar point, a shop at Newmarket would be an even bigger trek than to BV now for many I'm sure! The convenience for passing trade must be a benefit somehow.

Quote: Khlav Kalash "now lets go talk to leeds united about sharing a shop in the new shiny shopping centre, coalitions are so popular at the moment and can work for all parties.'"

Didn't we share with them when they had a shop at the bottom of the Ridings in the mid-90s?

Wouldn't the council be willing to work on a rent solution (or have they done enough for us?) you can go to Barnsley, Leeds, White rose, Meadowhall, Huddersfield etc to go to an HMV etc but a Wildcats shop in their eyes should have the potential to draw 50,000 - 100,000? people per year extra into our struggling City centre.

All the Trin stuff was pushed to the back of the shop out the way. It was Beaver products but Wakefield didn't do well out of the deal.

Just seen rlthisrl on the club website; really good stuff! It would be great to see it shown at Cineworld before family movies for example, and who knows, maybe even adapted for tv - during Calendar news would be a decent slot.

It's very encouraging to see the marketing and promotional activity being ramped up in recent weeks; a decent offer for the Bulls game and Samba-tastic pre-match entertainment, the Ridings shop thing and now this.

Just one (constructive!) criticism - get our bloody awful website sorted; 2 weeks ago I said the same thing and someone 'in the know' said that it was done and ready to go live - it still hasn't!

Otherwise, credit where it's due - well done James Elston, more of the same please.

That video is excellent - albeit it's a shame that there is a shot of Brough hugging Stosic - but it conveys a really positive image.

The website is close, but these things are never that easy - so be patient! icon_wink.gif

Fantastic video, this really is the kind of thing I was angling for in previous attendance threads. Well done to the club. Just a few unfortunate coincidences mar the video, Brough and Stosic hugging and the fact it was the Play Off loss to the Catalans with the poor attendance.

Anyhow this is the way the club should be going. You have to keep re-selling the product to the public, Wigan have great attendances yet they still think of ways to boost their crowds. Of course the marketing budgets between the two clubs will be vastly different but ideas such as the video can only help.

All it needs now is details of ticket prices and offers to be included and for it to be played during the trailers prior to films at Cineworld and it should be a strong marketing tool in the clubs nal.

Oh, also this is an encouraging quote for James Elston;

[i“We wanted to take advantage of us not having a Carnegie Challenge Cup tie by visiting the city centre and making ourselves accessible to the fans.

“The weekend store was a fantastic success, both in terms of sales and awareness of the club; I would like to thank the Ridings Shopping Centre for playing its part in helping with our promotion.

“We will continue working with the Ridings and considering our options concerning a permanent base in the city centre.”[/i

www.wakefieldwildcats.co.uk/city ... 06968.html

Again keep up the good work.

Much better marketing, something we desperately needed to improve. This obviously doesnt coincide with James Elsons returning so good job so far James (and team) - keep up the good work! eusa_clap.gif
