Can we please pass the message on to the turnstyle operators and ask them to stop letting people in during the minutes silence as this is the only noise problem I've heard during are all too frequent moments of reflection.

Regards

I really hope so, would be great for as many Wakey fans to come and get behind the lads.

Our club needs us!

I remember the silence before the Salford v Wakefield game after the World Trade Centre bombing. That was quite eerie if I recall, quietest silence I have ever heard - if that makes any sense, at a ground I mean. That day had so many emotions with it.

Your optimism is greater than mine. Do you really expect the greater Wakefield public to get off their s and go to Belle Vue when its on the telly ?

I`m in the minutes silence camp, a time for quiet reflection and more dignified in my opinion. I hope the Club will prime the Stewards to look out for anyone not showing due respect and haul them out during the spontaneous applause which always follows the silence. I would like to see them `named and shamed` as well, Wakefield, indeed Rugby League in general, does not need these morons, all clubs may have them, but we don`t have to tolerate them.

I really don't feel that there will be a problem with a minutes silence. The minutes silence before the Salford game for Adam was impeccably (or it seemed to be from where I was stood) respected.

I don't know whether, given the sensitive nature of the match, the RFL were influenced in there choice of officials for the game but they are -

Trust me, it wasn’t. I find it hard to comprehend the behaviour of some and I do believe a minutes’ silence is a more poignant way to pay ones respects, it just the applause would drown out the minority who feel that the silence is a cue for them to make ‘amusing’ remarks.

Still the vast majority will behaviour in a dignified manner showing that most RL fans are decent people.

As i said on another thread, i do hope that all the fans stop behind after the game and give the lads a massive round of applause to show our appreciation of what they do on a weekly basis and to show that we are united in their loss.

They need us more than ever.

I am in fear of what could happen, someone on the Saints forum said something along the lines of "I hope the drunk chavs manage to keep quiet through the silence because they had not managed at the last one" this is not a quote but that was the gist of what i read. Now some of these lads are young daft and full of beer, they may have tagged along for the night and not even support RL but if one where near me and they intereupted the silence i would find it impossible to ignore and i really dont want to get banned for lamping a fool. Also on this say someone decides to go to the game with their family say and doesnt realise what is going on and they have a mobile in their pocket that go's off in the middle of it, drunk fan takes offence and starts to beat 7 shades out of man who is only guilty of not knowing what was happening.

I know these are a strange set of circumstances that probably wont happen, im sure if someone told me at the end of last season "by the middle of next season 2 wakey players will be passed away" i would think they where barking.

The staying behind would br great but i would love to see [ieveryone[/i in the ground chanting "One Leon Walker" straight after the silence and that go's for every game not just us.

Lets make sure his family knows that we care.

I normaly have few pints in pub before game, but never get p!ssed and even so I could still respect a silence anyone can. As for the watene silence, I was told that it was 2 people coming from the toilet and did not realise what was going on and they did say sorry.

If anyone makes any noise during the silence I shall have a word with them. But I don't think we will have that problem.

I will be sure to sing only one Leon Walker after the silence.

I'm a happy depressive - the glass is half empty but the bar is open.:

To help with this it would be good if the minutes silence was mentioned a few times in advance, especially a couple of mins before it does happen, so everyone is aware it will be happening - we could also make sure the stewards / gate ppeople are aware of it so they can mention it to any late arrivals to the match and ensure the gates are kept quiet during this time while keeping the fans arriving late informed.
