| I suppose the one thing in Walmsley's favour is the proposal that Australians/NZ/Islanders that have been over here for 5(?) seasons will no longer count on the quota. If that goes through then suddenly his options open up.

Powelly will do what needs to be done for the best. No sentiment I'm afraid in sport.
He will and I trust his judgement. If we lose Walmsley- and DP has said, I believe, nothing is decided yet- then so be it. It happened to Luke Bain and the young second rower T ? Who went to Featherstone. Part of my original point was really how far we have come on as a club that we can let such players go!

| I’m not sure who we are looking at or keeping who we see as players that can take us to the top 4/6 in the upcoming years. Powell apparently spoke really highly of Lino at the forum, which to me Shows he sees Lino as our 7. I have been critical of Lino’s inconsistency, though I understand there are obviously factors into why.
If Powell and Mills see Lino as our 7 for the future then all you can do is support him. The catalyst for me is keeping Trueman on the field to partner him. We are simply a different machine when he’s playing. Though he is a 6, he looks like the dominant half who completely stabilises our whole attack. I just hope we can keep him on the field as when hes fit he’ll be pushing for England honours.

| Wasn’t there a condition that it had to be 5 years in Superleague. I recall something like that where championship may not be considered. That was a while ago though and I disagreed with that.
If this were to be passed then Lino could come off at the end of this season which would be a huge boost and give us 3 spots for next season instead of 2.

We would be silly not to try. He has been getting some negative press for his hard carries and side wards running. That seems why he’s on the out. Tchamambe is likely in the same build and I do wonder if he will be ready next season to stake a claim or whether his year will be 2027 as he is young. Either way we need a quality winger next season who has pace and can make good carries. Be interesting to see where we go with that.

| As regards Walmsley - up until this last match I thought we could do better, but now I'm undecided.I like the way he never shirks and strives to get to top SL standard and think he's not far off. Powelly hasn't really helped him by making some strange team selections lately either. As an aside,I remember the 2023 relegation team and a winger called Jorge Taufua who was tough but not much else. Atoni is easier for me.He can be the best player on the pitch but nowhere near often enough.Under the constraints of the old regime he would probably be the best we could afford, but we can probably do better now.

I agree with that and it’s very important these days to have a winger who can finish. I did think at the beginning of the season that Walmsley could make a good SL winger but as you say I don’t think it’s been helped by not having regular game time. He played 2 tough fixtures and was solid but got dropped so it does seem he hasn’t fully had a fair shake just yet. I would be fine with him staying beyond this season at least in the short term unless the club have a top target in mind. It would have to be someone who has speed and can finish though. Players like Taufua and battering ram players aren’t enough anymore in SL. Hall is pretty much the last of that guard and he’s just about hanging on. Our style of play we need that speed on the edges too. If Walmsley gets a handful of games and he performs well enough then why not. Agree about Atoni though, he can have good games where he can put in some class runs and plays but others he can be anonymous. He’s not consistent but it’s sometimes snout if there is better out there.

| The proposed rule creates an exemption after five consecutive years of playing SL so neither Walmsley or Lino would benefit.
