Yes and of the two Butcher picked, Hastings is unlikely to fit the personality of the team Powell is building.
Also it isn't a one player question.
Trueman and Lino are clearly a good partnership. The real Xfactor is Trueman but he's also the vulnerable one.
If we replace Lino we could just end up back in the same place.
If I'm spending big money I'd have to assess how likely Trueman is to stay fit. He might be the one to replace. But I hope not.
If you keep them both we need a capable backup. Not sure Russell is it yet but we'll see.
I think this season is the season we really find out about all 3. There's no real rush to go marquee straight away.
Think you make a good point about Truman ,we do not know how fit he is Looked good against Leeds was missing the next game injured .Pundits on Sky were saying he had missed the last six weeks.One game now and again is no good for such a important position on the park .Think he as got to be in the team for rest of season or to me it is a waste of time keeping him He is class but he as got to prove he is worth the money For the record ,Trueman is marque |

I'd be keeping my eye on the Lewis Dodd situation over the next year or so. Should he come back he'd be an excellent signing. I quite like the look of Flanagan Jr at Huddersfield. Played full back at the weekend, but seems just as comfortable in the halves.

I have no doubt that if Trueman puts a good number of games together he will be in the conversation for an Ashes call up. Hopefully he is fine after the hit out and is ready to help us to a win vs Wire and Salford.
He was the difference on Sunday. He gives other players including Lino so much time on the ball.

It’s probably to be expected to have some reaction but hopefully it is something that will ease off in this next 2 weeks as you say. Personally I think having Trueman for Wire is important and he could be the difference with Wire struggling with pivots but we could probably afford to rest him vs Salford if we are to manage him a little. Let’s hope it’s just a bit of soreness. If we win the next 2 we could almost find ourselves sitting around top 4 coming up to the half way point. |
