what do you reckon when its been the policy to retain players especially when its KR.listen if a player isnt intrested in playing for the club then we are not intrested in him are we.

TBH, I'd rather trust Powelly or Ste's judgement than any poster on here.......

Fundamentally we signed him on a 1 year extension, meaning other clubs are free to talk to his agent now. KR are way ahead of us in terms of competing but behind us in youth products so are buying what they feel they are missing (although Booth isn't a product of our academy) and are an attractive proposition for players. I don't get the outrage really. He showed up well in the championship but never pushed anyone out of position, so why all the gnashing of teeth now.

Edit - Just seen it's a loan move, so the noise will increase but it doesn't change anything if Booth was off in 26 anyway, in fact it means we have an extra body for this season.

A player who presumably has his sights elsewhere, perhaps wanting to burst into the first team a bit sooner, is released. Fine. We get a player who played for England academy and plays in a position where our star turn has a history of serious injuries. I can't see a problem.

So the Rover's winger comes and sits in our reserves for a year in the knowledge that he then returns to Rovers for 2026. Looks like an absolutely pointless bit of business from our end with a token face saver given by Rovers.

Booth wasn't playing for us this year regardless, and looks like he was off in 26 anyway, this way we get a player who can fill in on the wing this season should he be called upon and is a bit of a unit.

I see it as insurance in case one of our first choice wingers goes down (and that is always possible with TJ). Whatever the deal, we have a player on loan elsewhere, but perhaps better to have the one who can fill in better if we lose a key player in that position. I doubt they would have let Booth go if they thought he'd be with us from next year and beyond.

His contract is up with Rovers this year unless they extend, having taken Booth that's not going to happen, we can look at him and sign him for 26 and beyond
