| good resigning. regarding past good fullbacks, nobody ever seems to remember Column halpenny - excellent in my opinion and his loping style of running belied his actual speed. solid good fullback

Still remember that ball strip against Wigan that meant we won the game. Good memories of Colum.

Agree and one of the nicest blokes you'd wish to meet.
I recall him being 'binned' for putting the ball over the fence at the flats end, in order to give the lads a breather when we had to drop out from under the sticks.

Well I’m going to have a go.
Walker was imo one of the mistakes MC referred to and imo will be gone at the end of the season.
Hampshire will probably remain as a utility player.
There is absolutely no evidence except to those who are looking for conspiracies in everything CC does that Max is not his first choice.
He wears the number one, he’s just got a two year deal and Hampshire is available but Jowitt gets the spot,
What more proof do you need, a promise written in blood?
He at this moment the first choice FB for two years it’s obvious to me. It’s Max to lose though injury or loss of form as it is for all players.
Just my opinion and probably Chesters.

| Credit to Wakefield who must be doing something right when both Max and Matty Ashurst both say they're delighted to be stopping at the club. I remember Reece Lyne once saying that having played at one of the so called bigger clubs in Super League he never enjoyed going to work on a morning like he does at Wakefield.

Improve his defence which at times can be poor and his decision making when he joins the line of attack including the timing of his passes.for me the attack often stops when the ball goes to him and he simply takes the tackle...i do hope he proves me wrong though

Dont really care what you think.mc clearly stated we wanted to strengthen the fb spot said it on a zoom meeting so is max going to be first choice next season we will see but if miller and lino are here still here they will be half backs fb will and of course we can only speculate will be gaskell when fit as i cant imagine him coming to be a back up player

Well he has done considering how many times he’s set up Johnstone and BJB in the past. Nowt wrong with his defence either.
He’s proved himself to be a steady first choice fullback.

So we only have one fullback on the books, no competition then, just Max? A bit strange from a poster who reckons five props are not enough when there are only four spots available depending on the team formation. You seem to think we need at least 6-8 props so surely three FB's is reasonable, especially as two can play numerous other positions. If Jowitt got injured early doors and we didn't have another FB you'd soon be complaining and it's not a position where we have any Academy players ready to run.
So, I would suggest you've already seen the second full-back just signed, Lee somebody, with Hampshire as belt and braces.
At the moment Max is No1 and I hope it stays that way but that's surely down to Max and how he performs. The club owes him a chance but he has no divine right to play just because he's a youth product. If his match form or training slips or he gets injured and Gaskill steps in and is better then that's tough, but that's how good teams are made.
Don't be surprised early season if CC plays both, I'd be annoyed if he didn't, I want to see the best FB playing, and if that's Jowitt great, if no he's still a useful player to have. CC has one job and that's to field the best team we have with a game plan that works if it works better with Gaskill then so be it, there is room for compassion but not sentiment, the best player plays. Strange anyone should see it otherwise as CC is often accused of having favourites, or is Max not included?

Yeah, until he has a few poor games. From your past history, you'll be the first to call for his head, you normally launch your first panicky text at halftime.
That said, his defence has improved a lot, whilst I personally have always considered him an excellent playmaker, probably got the best RL brain in the team. So long may his current form continue.
