Sums it up for me too.
I just don't understand why the people involved in delivering the promise of a new stadium (other than those we know and admire for their tireless work) remain silent in this saga. Who are the faceless people seemingly reneging on a hard fought for scheme which had the potential to work to everyone's advantage?
I'm also really surprised that the W.E. haven't picked up on this by now and done what journalists are reputedly good at and done some 'digging' to see what's going on!

| The press are our ally, but we want to use them when we feel we can gain maximum benefit from them.
I heard something else yesterday that heartened me in this quest and we are confident that we have a strong position to take forward.
Nothing involved in this is quick, but in terms of the overall progress, what we are seeing now is a frantic pace.
Meetings meetings meetings, but all with a purpose!

One thing I'm not clear on.
The changes/errors that are allowing the development to progress without the stadium.........are we saying they just don't have to build the stadium at all if they get their way, or that they are trying to delay a long time so they can build all the other pieces first and earn money on it?

Anyone can put a new application on the land removed from GB - the B8 land - without it having to contribute to the stadium. The land with PP which remains in GB is different.

I didn't know if I'm being a bit thick here but the thing they're building now was that part of the original plans.

No - if it was it would have been submitted as a reserved matter.
It was submitted as a new application - we knew that much - as the original PP only allowed for up to 18m high, where as this is 42m high. The bit we didn't know is that it was excluded from contributing towards the Unilateral Undertaking - the 106!

Shows how much I know then.
Tbh I'm not sure how something that high got past planning. I just remember those very nice architects drawings of how the whole area was going to turn out and there didn't seem much room for anything else, obviously many things have changed since then.
Anyway mate keep up the good work, seems an absolute minefield.

Unfortunately I cannot see many takers for 18 m high warehouses these days, I reckon the new cold one is likely to be the norm, especially now the precedent has been set .

| Sorry, I posted this on the Newcold thread when it should have been on this one.
What the hell were the WMDC planning department doing allowing this to go through on a separate planning application in the full knowledge that it was originally intended as part of the wider Community development. Are they so thick and incompetent that they didn't twig what the developer was doing or were they complicit in this right from the off!
After hundreds of thousands of pounds were spent on a Public Inquiry and thousands of people campaigned for or against this development did the WMDC Planning Dept just wave this through without raising the question or seeking advice. Don't give me that they had no choice because the new application was within the rules. We all know that the site and planning permission for it would never have become available without having ridden on the back of the Community Sports element. Certainly the Secretary of State wouldn't have made his decisions without the Sports facilities.
Someone asked why we thought WMDC and Peter Box were at least partly at fault, well look no further than this 'waving through' of the new Newcold application almost in secret and without so much as a muff about how it was circumventing the S106 contract.

| I've got to admit as times gone on, especially when all the business about S106 stuff came out, I haven't followed what's happening at Newmarket as close as others.I also had no idea about this Newcold not being part of the original plan.
