| I would be deeply disappointed if we sign McGoldrick - hopefully it's just a bit of wishful thinking on behalf of some Cas fans.
What happened to Kyle Briggs SL career? I recall he was at Bradford but don't remember seeing enough of him to judge how he went at that level - or not.
Looks good at Fev, which I realise is no guarantee of doing the same at SL, but it's a decent start.

| If the some total of our ambition is Ryan Mcgoldrick then next season will be taking place without me in attendance thats for sure. We have enough ageing or overated overseas players thanks and he is both of those things.

A bad decision to let him go?'"
Agreed. With the limited amount of game time that he had with us last season, he would have been worth keeping and he kicks goals for fun and has a pretty good tactical kicking game and in theory, he was playing in a weaker team (although this is up for debate at the moment).
Considering his age we should have given the guy a little longer, also, we should be trying to sign promising youngsters and developing them, rather than old stagers (like McGoldrick) who are past their best and have "baggage".

It is, he has been "rumored" to be coming to wakey for the past three years according to the cas forum.

| Quote: Tommy Duckfingers "There must have been somebody out there who could have been a cheaper option and one more likely to settle. Moore for starters is the obvious suggestion. I find it frustrating that we have given john 3 years to try and prove his worth - something that we seem to do regularly for imports, yet the domestic lads who we have we dont afford anywhere near as much time to get up to speed. We seem to give them a handful of games and then ship them out, when obviously we give the imports much, much more time to get there.
I'm not saying Moore is the answer, and its easy to be wise after the event but surely the fact that he doesnt have to move half way round the world into an alien culture and climate as a young man means he already has a head start on the likes of John & Smith?
And by the same token as the last point, John wouldn't have been available if he was any good.'"
I get all this, but no one else has taken Moore on which suggests to me he wasn't SL standard. If he had been snapped up on his release from us I'd be more convinced that we had lost out. I think our current disapointment with this side and our relentless ill founded reliance on overseas players shouldn't blind us to the shortcomings of previous players British or otherwise..
If Moore were good enough he's be in SL with someone. Very good kicker I grant you.

| The one thing that Moore never seemed to get used to was the speed of SL - I liked him a lot and thought he had a touch of the Broughy about him, but he got often got caught in possesion when he was shaping to kick and, due to his slight build, was very easily dominated in the tackle.
As much as I would have liked it to be otherwise, perhaps he's one of those players who looks good at Championship level but is just not good enough for SL?

As I said, I'm not sure Moore is/was the answer - but seen as he is effectively the player we have shipped out to make way for John he's the one who keeps cropping up.
Maybe if Moore had been afforded the security of a 3 year contract and a full time environment with proffesional back room staff then he would have had more of a chance to develop into the next Broughy - rather than piling on pressure for him to prove his worth in a handful of games.

I suppose the fact that he's still at Batley would suggest not - if he had that potential, it's likely that another SL coach would have spotted it by now and be giving him exactly what you've described.
