| Quote: sandaltrinityfan "Well that's true but that just shows how much of a one man team creatively we are.
Look, it's not just about Tim Smith, I am sick to the back teeth of ALL the rumours about players going. I was just as sick about the Kirmond rumour. In the Express it's clear there are going to be no signings without other things being done to allow them - not sure of the exact wording but I get the impression players have to go to free up money!
Perhaps that's it - we're selling Tim Smith so we can make a move for Tommy Lee.
Or pay outstanding bills - which is a reality that all clubs need to deal with to keep financial, and clear debts for the next season. Reality of a business. And as previously said one player is not a team.
If this means dealing with debts and saving the club, and our good name, go for it!
Oops just read the statement from the club which was on the forum.

| Just like to say that it's been an absolute pleasure reading your forum throughout this whole saga. You lot are gracious and class RL folk; a stark
contrast to the Cas fans who frequent our board. I wish you the very best for next season!

| I'm starting to get used to this now.
I loved having a class player like Smith at Wakefield but like any asset you need to cash in at the right time.
If we'd kept him another year he would have just left for free.
The only new money around at the moment is the Docs money so if we don't take it there isn't any coming from elsewhere any time soon.
And we might as well have it as any other club.
As long as this solves the problem it might be better for us in the long run.
Puts a sad end to the season but its better at this stage so we have a whole off season to get used to it.

| I am often accused of being too optimistic but the reality is that we are better off as a club today tha we were yesterday.

I am often accused of being a doom monger but in reality we are both the same, just different

You are more than welcome and thanks for the good wishes.
Most Cas fans are fine people, it's just a few that spoil it.

| Our problem is who is going to play 7 now Smith has gone ? Wildie for me is far better at 9.Goulding or Kaye ? we aint seen enough of them in SL games to know.Smith can be brilliant on attack then go missing at times and other games do nothing.Smith in defence is very poor especially one on one he could not tackle a good breakfast. We need a 7 who can when needed take the line on something Smith does not do so in the long run we might not miss Smith as much as some fear.It just might make the team better for it so chin up lads and lets get behind the side as we always do on match days.

| Amazing what a difference 48 hours make.
Two days ago we were all jumping off bridges. Now we are having a love in and all agreeing what a great piece of business Mr Carter has done. Sounds like we were on the edge and drastic action needed to be taken. I say to all those that are grumbling, take your cheque books in to the club and pay some of our debts off if you want to keep your favorite players.
Despite what Mr Glover has brought us one thing he's certainly not brought is financial prudence. Yes it's frustrating that two year down the line we are struggling again and we may point fingers but in Mr Carter he has the guts to make a swift decision that perhaps Mr Glover and Jimmy couldn't stomach. He's saved us from the edge and we still have a club.
So lets get behind him the club and the team. It's tin hat time again and their may be some more bitter pills to swallow.
Last time we sold a star half back to Salford was Garen Casey and he did nothing when he got there so we will just have to wait and see.

| Now the dust has settled and everyone is a lot clearer on what is happening. The statements about turning offers down for Kirmond are more reassuring. If we started to break our pack up, it wouldn't matter who we had in the halves, if your pack gets bullied, you backs can't do a thing. We have a great pack, that hopefully will allow Goulding, Kaye and Wilde to express themselves in the remaining 2 games.
Think you have to realise that this is the same Tim Smith that gets rubbished if we lose. If we had not sold him now, giving us breathing space til the start of next year to find a replacement and kept him. You can bet that 2 or 3 games into next season if we are struggling, the same people who are distraught at his departure, would be moaning that the club should have cashed Tim in when they had the chance!!
