| Disappointed but not gutted.
I'm more annoyed at the lack of loyalty, but money talks.
let's see who the replacements for these departing players are and let's hope there is some sort of announcement soon.

| Quote: The Avenger "What’s OTT about it?
He’s one of the better young prop forwards to emerge in SL over the last 2 or 3 years and we should have secured him on a contract rather than letting him slip away.'"
I agree.
It's all good and well asking for examples of where this player has done X,Y or Z.
There might be no examples. But as I see it, living on the past doesn't make up for a potential* mistake in the present.
* Aydin is now the author of his own destiny. But with hard work - I genuinely think he can progress to play internationally.

We invest the money producing the players and they step in and pick them up when they are ready for first team. By all accounts they also had to offer very little to beat the offer we made to him.'"
Rovers do run an academy. I’m probably one of the most equivocal Rovers fans, regarding the benefits it has/will offer in terms of return on investment, but it definitely exists. This announcement was met with much (tbf, justified) joy.

Had some decent results as the season has gone on. Not the point, I know, but gives a bit of hope. Hull FC have the league table on their website.

Interesting see everybody’s thoughts on Aydin, and Batchelor when he was announced. There’ll be an element of these deals having been agreed when you looked like you might be relegated, I suspect. That knackered our recruitment and retention for a while, until relegation was binned off early in 2020 with the pandemic.

| We will see how they get on, obviously their valuation of themselves and our valuation of them are not the same. It is true, can’t think of that many players that have left us to go onto bigger better things. I have faith in the club to make the right decisions within the budget we have.
It’s going to go one way or another, we will either be stronger or weaker next year, WP has a blank canvas but not a blank cheque book. We are late to the party in regards to now been able to guarantee contracts, but who’s to say that said players have been waiting in the wings. MC has stated before the phone never stops with agents all over the world proposing players. Let’s see what they can do. For every Miller there is a Cust or Croft struggling to get a game.

| Had a bit of time away from the forum recently but can’t believe vastman has now become the voice of reason on here!
Yes, I’d have liked to have kept Aydin as he’s come through the system and he’s improving all the time but let’s not kid ourselves that it’s a major loss!
Who was it again who switched off for their try last night?
Not wanting to knock the lad but if he wants to take a better offer elsewhere then so be it….it’s not as if we didn’t offer him a deal…
Would much prefer to give bigger improved contracts to Hall and Murphy who are miles ahead and much more worthy of improved offers than Aydin is.

Yes and also left a gap the size of a bus for Warrington at home for a forward to steam through untouched I recall. He certainly has a lot to work on.

| I would have liked Aydin to stay as he was improving gradually with the more matches he was getting.Whether he turns out to be a top prop, who knows, but Yusuf has made his decision.

| I’m not disappointed in Yusuf or the club… but I am disappointed with the system that allows a club(with fan sponsorship) to develop a first team quality player through their formative years… then gave them taken with no recompense to that development..
We used to pick up Leeds and Wigan cast offs… but this is different as these players are first grade calibre and are first grade calibre because of the investment their club has put into them

No, Corey Hall got caught ball watching at A defender and was too passive off his line meaning he didn’t get out and meet Vete. Aydin came in from B defender and put a decent shot on but the damage came from Hall staying on the try line and not meeting Vete a couple of metres off it

I’ve just rewatched that twice and this didn’t happen, well certainly not in the build up to us conceding a try at least. If you’re alluding to a missed tackle in general play then maybe it did but that would be picky beyond the extreme

| Looking at the Wigan v saints game last night and their youngsters ripping into each other with gusto ,the lad has a long way to develop into anything like that sort of quality from what I’ve seen of him ,with those players being imo the benchmark in our game at present, but Something for him to aim for I’m sure , and if he feels that he will achieve that at another club that’s purely his and his agents choice, and as a club we thank him for his efforts and move on without him .

| I can only think the club see better prospects coming through the next round of youngsters , but there will a time lag in development of these kids. That's why to me Batch is the biggest loss, not far off the finished item and someone who should have been a stalwart and future captain.

| I get it when people are upset about losing young players brought along by the club, but why does the club get the blame when they leave?
To me IF they are that good the club will surely offer them a contract they consider appropriate and that we can afford.
I reckon if the heart of these players was at the club they take up the offer and stay - unless it's a big star such as TJ who must have been offered bucks we can only dream of to go to France.
Aydin, and Batchelor are not in that status to me, and if they don't want to stay at Wakefield then off they go.
We have to accept that some kids don't give a monkey about Trinity, so as a Trinity fan through and through why should I care if they go? I look forward to seeing some positive team building though to replace them.

Both use the same agent by all accounts ,so nice little earner for him/her ,and let’s hope he/she had their best interest at heart , time will tell on that one I’m sure

But they are young 20 somethings who have spent 4 to 7 working age years earning next to nothing to chase their goal of becoming a regular 1st teamer at SL level. When they achieve that or are very close and reach the pivotal point of a new contract they expect to begin the realisation of decent wages. Unfortunately there is a pervading attitude that home grown talent don’t get the deserved wages that players ‘signed in’ from other clubs get so they become easy targets for other clubs offering a decent contract. These are young blokes who want to start an adult life, get married, buy a house, have kids etc, you can’t expect them to put their life on hold any longer because they’re home grown.
I know some very good young blokes who’ve turned down apprenticeships and jobs paying £25k and one at £35k+ in order to accept £9k and play in the Academy or be a fringe First Team squad player. They then develop and make the first team on a regular basis only to be offered far less than that position deserves, It happens all the time

Can’t tell from the camera angle on the Sky Sports highlights but felt watching live at the game that Aydin was slow to react and Vete was his man and wasn’t quick enough or strong enough to stop him one on one
Agree Hall could have done better but the way the defensive and attacking lines were set Minichella was his man and had he scored I’d have blamed Hall…
