That was just for last year mate, they owe a total of £6 million plus the RFL loan you mention.

| Jesus H Christ, we are on a winning run, we are safe from relegation and the club is profitable! Yet despite this the chicken licken brigade are already out in force.
Why do some fans insist on looking for problems that don’t currently exist, it baffles me. This glass half empty mentality has become truly tedious..
The only player to leave the club in recent years (won’t put a date as it’s catnip to pedants) who we really wanted to keep was Westerman. I suspect even he was torn and certainly hasn’t done so for the money.
If Lino or Miller really wanted to go then I suppose they would, not much you can do to stop them in truth but honestly, is it really likely?
One thing I’m sure of, we will do our upmost to keep them if that’s what WP wants and we certainly won’t be actively selling them unless that’s what WP/other coach wants.
Relax and go with the flow.

Bloody Hell thats really bad what the hell are the Rl doing giving a loan out to a club that much in debt that does'nt really have any assets to cover the loan ?
Makes you wonder who is running our game.

| I presume the loan is from the COVID grant provided by the government to the RFL.

Chester is let go and some of his former colleagues met him for a coffee to check in and give him a bit of a boost.
Two players at Wakefield continue to play for the team they are contracted to till end of 2022
Wigan post a big annual loss.
All facts as I see them. I see no conclusion that anyone is going to Wigan.'"
I agree with your logic but, Wigan will certainly need some players from somewhere.
For me, it spoke volumes when they didn't re-sign Williams.
On a side note, it's easy to see why the big clubs are wanting to reduce SL down to 10, to protect their share of reduced sky monies.
They wont be on their own with being skint.
Next season and what comes after will be very interesting.

Wigan already have next years coaches at the club. Matty Peet will be head coach and Shaun Wane Director of Rugby. Peet is an assistant coach getting a promotion and Wane has been back at Wigan for some time in a consulting capacity although it has been kept from the press.
I understand Wigan are in a bit of a mess in relation to the recruitment of a new half and look to be taking on a scatter gun approach. Trinity have been contacted regarding Miller.
The issue they have is they have Smith (who is very poor) on a long term deal and Field who is a bit of a Jack of all trades currently signed on. I think the strategic plan was to get Williams back and once he turned them down they were left to scratch their heads as who to go for. They have been linked with every half available or not at the moment. They have confirmed their is budget for a half but they increasingly look desperate to fill it.

Truth is Wigan are not a draw card anymore and haven’t been for a while.
Saints, Catalan and Warrington are the go too clubs now.
Sure Miller would still have more chance of silverware at Wigan than with us but they are no longer the cert they once were.
At Trinity Miller has a job for life and a testimonial in the not too distant future. It’s a lot to give up for Wigan, a bit of a player graveyard in recent years.
We will see.

| I think it would take a decent wage hike to get him to travel across to Wigan.
His family appear to be really settled in the area and he will be on good money here too.

That's just not true at all though is it, Wigan is as big of a draw card as they have ever been, one mediocre season doesn't change that. You are kidding yourself. Best facilities in the country, best investment in player welfare in the country, best production line in the country, the most successful club in British Rugby league history, the most famous rugby league club in the world, one of the biggest fanbases in the country, and and top of that if you spend a couple of seasons there as a player you would be extremely disappointed to pick up no silverware, that says it all about the standards at Wigan.

The most successful club in British RL history is undeniable but maybe not necessarily the most famous club in the world nowadays and not such as big a draw as they were, but the rest is debatable and at best speculative, as for the fan base unless we have different meaning of the term, and unless you haven't noticed prior to lock down they're attendances have dropped alarmingly to what they were, 100% agree with vastman.

You really know as much about RL as you think you do.
There was a point in the 80’s and 90’s that Wigan went from being a famous and successful club to being in a different universe.
Nobody and I mean nobody could compete. If Wigan wanted a player they got them, every player in the U.K. wanted to join them.
They won everything. They were the only full time club in the game and got massive crowds, crowds even Leeds couldn’t compete with. There players were also genuine household names.
The Wigan of today are still a big club but they are nothing like what they were, they can no longer snap their fingers.
I suggest you read the history books before shouting your mouth off.
I say again Wigan are still a big club but they are not the main game in town - end of.
