| This reminds me of a TV programme that I saw a few months ago ,it featured Ravensthorpe and other places where there were many takeaways that didn't seem to do much business but they could be used for money laundering by drug dealers. The same programme also mentioned Mohammod Yaqub, who was shot dead by police on the M62 near Huddersfield.Yaqub's father said his son wasn't a wealthy drugs dealer as he only had £60 in his bank account.Obviously if you have a lot of dirty money you wouldn't put it it in your bank account ,earning little or no interest.

| Quote: Sacred Cow "I was talking talking about the NCA watching him? Are you talking from a NCA or Wakey angle? And i know it was MH who didn't fight it but it matters not the NCA agreed to settle. The investigation is done and finished.
He hasn't actually been convicted of money laundering even though it is highly suspected, the NCA couldn't prove it. So us or anyone else trying to prove a specific deal from years ago was the result of wrongdoing through the civil courts is sadly a non-starter, as much as i'd like to see him lose every last penny of his ill-gotten gains.'"
The NCA went through new powers under civil Law makes it easier than Money Laundering under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). POCA requires the criminal standard of proof i.e. beyond reasonable doubt (or commonly referred to in summing up these days as virtual certainty).
UWO puts the burden on the defendants to prove the wealth is legitimate on the balance of probability which is a much lower standard of proof.
Here's a brief explanation here, what is interesting is why the NCA took it on from the Police in West Yorkshire, it does not look like the Police can go for UWO I would hazard a guess as it it is civil law although referenced under POCA.
I am not sure the investigation is over yet as the NCA may well be looking for hidden assets, the ones secured after Hussain rolled over are obviously overt assets .He was a clean skin for some serious criminals to run dirty money through. Having coughed that lot up I suspect there could be more hidden away.

I’d hazard a guess there’s a lot more.

Quote: Willzay "To be fair I sucked a few in, and not just Trinity fans obviously.
Easy done when MC has wanted extra finance backing, and who would blame him, or anyone, for seeing someone coming in, buying the land. He did also say a lot at the beginning, positive thoughts on the club.
It also doesn't help when our then chairman, offer to sell the club for £1. When that comes out, it does make you wonder whether his heart is really in it, or not.'"
I'm a bit confused here tw, Wilzays comment was referring to a poster on here before you started posting, how's that work

I would too. If he was down to his last quid he'd have put a fight up. I bet he's still worth a few hundred grand if not more.
Good result though and I hope the NCA sort more vermin out.
