| Quote: FSW "At first glance it seems curious that Trinity aren't playing the first week as we have most games to make up, but perhaps a bit of common sense has broken out. I suspect the fixtures will only be released in dribs and drabs so that derby fixtures are played when crowds might be able to attend. As our games to be made up are home games, it would be unfair if we had to play these extra games at neutral venues so I'm sure our Chief exec will have fought our corner for the best chance to create some income from this disrupted season.'"
I hope our CEO has pointed out to the RFL, one glaring obvious problem with one of the proposed rule change for the remaining season. It’s been proposed to remove the golden point rule. Trinity have already fallen foul this season against Hull. After 80 minutes the score was level, therefore if golden point is scrapped now, I think Trinity should have a league point reinstated. We’ve played less than one third of this season, and as yet, no decision on promotion and relegation for this year, but would it be fair to relegate any team by one point, when the rules change part way into the season. If the rule is changed then, Any game ending in a draw after 80 minutes, then both teams come away with a point each, which could send another team down. I know some Championship teams are pushing for promotion to SL, and I think that’s fair, but possible relegation for a team because the rules have been changed part way though the season, is a big No from me.

| Quote: Dunkirk Spirit " If the HJ stadium is used as a neutral venue, then at least they will receive a payment, at least to cover the match day expenses. '"
But there's the rub.
If a club is benefitting financially from hosting games, that is unfair on the rest.
A payment to "cover costs" should not = a profit.
I am really struggling with the idea of relegation this year - unbalanced fixture lists, "home" games played away, mid season rule changes.
I do hope the clubs can find a way to promote a club though, followed by a double relegation the following season(?)
I can imagine the squeals of the Championship clubs now a) if there's no promotion b) if it's not them that are promoted - any agreement to keep promotion must come with an "accept the result" clause.
There are no perfect solutions here.

That is utterly ridiculous. How or why would you change the scoring system half way through a season? As you say, the table will now have to be adjusted

The answer to "why", is because they want to keep the game to 80 mins, for "time-in-contact" reasons, which seems sensible.
Of course, that should mean we get a point back and HFC lose a point.

Yes, the reason for scraping golden point is to keep the game to 80 minutes, to avoid extra contact between players.I think a few weeks ago, there was an idea floated, that the game should be 4 x 15 minutes long. I don’t think that idea is still being considered.

| Theres one of those connect with the fans zoom events this Friday and guest is Tom J so he will probably have a good idea of whats going on and be interesting to see both who is fit and what sort of fitness they will have -
Personally think we will see water breaks in the game, think doing away with golden point is a good thing - but the league won't be deducting anything retrospectively. Think the 6 again rule has really speeded up the aussie game and its going to be a tough short for the players

| I’ve not subscribed to Sky for some years now, and I’m not sure if individual SL clubs would be allowed to show recorded Sky televised games, a couple of days after the match, on the club media, such as Trinity TV. If the SL clubs own media teams, such as Trinity’s, TC and AD are not allowed into the stadiums, where games are being played, how else can we watch recordings of our matches. I’ve not seen anything regarding radio commentary being allowed to broadcast live from stadiums.
Daddycool, are you able to enlighten us, about TV and radio broadcasting, once the season gets underway again. Thanks.

| I also like the captain's challenge rule in the NRL could make a big difference in a close run game.

I don’t think it’ would work in SL, due to not having TV cameras at every game.

It was good to see it used to shut Cameron Smith up the other week.

| It could be that the ambition to get the players back could be scuppered by the government including Wakefield in the next wave of local lockdowns.

| As regards the ‘golden point ‘debate, If players have been in contact for 80 minutes how on earth will the extra golden point time have any bearing on catching the virus?

I agree. Bit pointless to me (no pun intended)
It's either a good rule or it isn't. Covid shouldn't have an impact.
I'm happy with 1 point to be honest.

I’m not sure if this will have a big impact. All the players/staff will be having regular swab tests to see if they have the virus, and they will be playing outside the Wakefield area, behind closed doors, until end of September at least.

| Said on news this morning that Leicester City will still play their matches despite what is happening in Leicester so they must be happy that the players are isolated ?
Probably staying in a local hotel or something...maybe we could borrow some caravans from our neighbours down at the Jolly Sailor site and isolate our players on the Superbowl car park ???
