Wonder what Michael Carter makes of all this political wrangling on here, surely it's far more interesting to bring politics into the conversation allowing a wider variation as to why the club might be in financial trouble through this silly old virus.

1962, mate, which was also the same year they filmed This Sporting Life, as the rugby footage was filmed during one of the earlier Challenge Cup rounds, with both Wigan and Wakefield players doing the acting bit prior to the actual game (I think). The guy who punched Richard Harris was in fact Derek Turner, who wore a Wigan shirt in the film but was of course the Wakefield captain you saw lift the cup.

If I've upset anyone or caused thread drift, I apologise; I brought the Govt scheme up initially as a suggestion of how MC might get some temporary relief for the club - but I pointed out the pitfalls of that, which may have started the drift.

I do happen to think that *everything* is politics in one way or another - but I am also living on adrenaline and coffee these past 2 weeks, so apologies if I was, unwittingly, a at any point.

It will be 1962 it was filmed in as the filming was prior to a Challenge Cup tie against Wigan, whereas we met Wigan in the final in 1963, so it couldn't be that year. It was released in 1963 though.

Sure it was filmed in 1963 because I was in my final year at secondary school and I left in 1963. We pupils were invited to appear in the crowd as extras and would be rewarded with an apple and a pork pie for our trouble.
