| Quote: Kettykat "Reminds me of the time we got Steve southern from the knights who came as a second rower but agar kept putting him in at prop, total waste of talent, and never saw the best of him.
He’s a second rower every day of the week and as said will cause all sorts of problems out wide .'"
Yes I remember him very well.
He was played as a prop just about every game and barely any bigger than Kirmo.
Came with a reputation, but left part way through his first season with a broken body. Potentially the same could happen with Tanginoa.
One of the final memories of him was him being laid out, while play carried on all around him, with no stoppage. Never played again for us. Poor treatment here from the club I think but dont think he was a bad signing at all.

| I have a theory and that's all it is, I wonder if and when Fifita, Green, and Arona are all fully fit he might just consider playing Tanginoa in the second row, as I said it's just thought that came to me.

| Quote: Wollo-Wollo-Wollo-Wayoo "Southerns game was the opening fixture at Widnes when they got promoted. Our 1st game on plastic and we were set up as fall guys as usual. The lads had to withstand a right battering on our line until we pulled away during the final 10 or 15. Massive following that night too.'"
I was there and Southern was outstanding that game.
He was driving everybody on and saved certain try on the line.
So much potential for us but we just broke him needlessly.

Wasn’t Southern the Trinity player we had showing on the side of the Eddie Stobart wagons, from the worst ever sponsorship deal by the RFL. I bought one of the toy wagon at the time.

| Could be my last game away till things improve if we carry on were we left of at Cas . Mist about 10 games in last 4 year but not enjoying watching the Club going backward 5 year in 3 games Bad coaching of basic rugby ,trying to make Tanginoa in to a prop ,players giving penalties away for cheep shots. Think it's going to take a 50 + defeat to make some one at Wakey think its time for big changes

We need a winger so play Kershaw if fit or why give him a squad number ..?? Tupou back to centre with Tom .... . The loss of Arundel was huge.... hope he’s not out too long , really like him .'"
It always seems to happen to Joe FFS!
Gets back into the team and then gets injured again.....
I think im right in thinking he got injured at Cas last season too???

Yes he did. The tackle looked a bit suspect as well, a bit like that one on Big Dave against Wigan at BV last year.

Aye yer reet it's called a conspiracy, why play Fifita,Green, and Arona at prop when he can play Tanginoa a second rower out of position at prop, surely it must make more sense to Chester to do so.

| Tanginoa is an absolute machine at Second row, though has clearly fronted up in the prop position in the absence of 3 of our props. Jeez, I remember southern playing prop, he was a veteran for the Cowboys and must of only been 15st, and put his body on the line every game. Tough as the devils toe nails that bloke.

| Quote: asmadasa "Steve Southern never seemed to be fit and was a poor signing.
I agree though Tanginoa is wasted though at prop and would be devastating in the second row.'"
He had a lot of problems at home if I remember rightly, his wife didn’t settle well and was heavily pregnant towards the back end of his stay with us.
Mix that with playing a position you’re not suited to and it’s never going to end well...

| I'm glad Southern is getting recognition.
He had a really hard time with some fans over social media. Never understood people doing that. Quite hateful stuff.

| As for Tanginoa, it's not like we are breaking him. He has played plenty of prop before.
He's a big runner and would be great in second row but at the moment I wouldn't shift Ashurst or Pitts.
Either way he needs to be on the field.

When we have all props available I think Tanginoa should be coming off the bench, he’s so explosive. I think he’d be almost unstoppable if used right.

| Be interesting to see how we line up with the injuries and Chester saying some will be dropped? I wonder if that was just in the heat of the moment? When you think of it they were asked a lot to back up a huge effort off a short turnaround.
I think there’s merit in dropping Westerman to six for a couple of games while Brough or Hampshire return.
A possible line up of...
Jowitt/Walker
Johnstone
Atkins
Lyne
Tupou
Westerman
Miller
Kopczak
J.Wood
Green
Ashurst
Pitts
Batchelor
K.Wood
Fifita
Tanginoa
Tangata
Batchelor I feel could have been one of the ones under threat but goal kicking could be his saving grace and if Westerman was in the halves Miller would have to step up more kicking wise...that bench would offer some real impact to a solid starting pack...Atkins would get the nod for me at left centre to defend against Pauli who I hope we exploit as we should be well aware of his weaknesses!
