Quote: TrinityIHC "Definitely, can only remember them getting through once on the left when they knocked on. Even their try had to be an outrageous piece of skill to score. Ashurst and Pitts were like heat seeking missiles in the 2nd row.'"

And that one was only because Joe was injured and couldn’t get to Manu, I think that’s who it was. Another credit to the defence was how they stopped Murdoch chicken Masala for the full 80 even making him come up with errors, not many teams will do that this season.

If Ratchford had have done the same about 5/10 minutes later, he'd have had another, similar try. Their man, when tackled, looked for the offload but Ratchford hadn't backed him up like before.

How can ANYONE explain that turnaround and against such quality opposition.
If our coaching staff know what happened and why, we should be a shoe in for the GF and Challenge Cup.

Our defence was unrecognisable from the game in Hull but, our offence is still a worry.
However, if we can keep our opposition to just one try every week, we wont lose too many games.

Attitude is your answer but, quite how it can e so different in the space of two weeks and just one game is inexplicable.
I'm happy to admit that I thought we'd get comfortably beaten, which makes the win even better.

Let's see how we go against Cas next week, before we get carried away - superb win though icon_biggrin.gif

More or less correct.

The explanation is simple. There has to be a winner and a loser in every game. Two weeks ago we weren’t up to it this week we were.

The time to start judging the team in any serious way is after ten or so games imho. Then you can start to assess new players and existing ones and see what style and shape the team has.

For me I’d suggest we all keep our opinion to a minimum until then whether they be positive or negative and just let the lads get on with it.

I will make one exception if we by some miracle beat Cas next Friday, I think I’d dine out on that one for a while icon_wink.gif

I came on hear knocking the team after the H K R game The difference to day was the attitude of the team. They put in the effort in all the basic of rugby There was 17 players who played for each other. On our budget do not expect to win every game ,all I won't is a bit of pride in the jersey .It was there for all to see today .Though 6 and 7 went OK passing of the ball seemed better think Jowitt had some say in this .Hope Mr Chester gives him a run in the team though he went well. This was a good win do not let the ground churning up take any thing away .And thank you Mr Chester for laying down the law and putting pride back in the team .Play with this effete and we could have a fair season but it's got to be every match

Congrats to all 17 today for a marvellous effort particularly in defence. Some superb runs from Westerman, Ashurst, Pitts, and Kopczak early in the game. No offence to BJB but we even managed to keep the flanks covered defensively. A great confidence booster and stepping stone to the game at Cas next Friday. Well done lads eusa_clap.gif eusa_clap.gif

The wisest coach I've ever had once told us:

"You're never quite as good as you think you are and you're never quite as bad as you think you are."

This absolutely applies equally as much after today's game as it did after the Rovers game.

The reason for the "worry" after the KR game, I think, was down to just how poor we were in that game and in the Hudds friendly before.
As the old saying goes, nothing is won (or lost) in week 1 and as you rightly point out, the time to pass real judgement is probable after 10 games or perhaps at the halfway point in the season.
I suppose that there were so many things wrong at KR, we simply had to be better.
However, we had more grunt in the middle (both with and without the ball) both edges looked solid, especially our right hand side, which was ripped apart by KR and we defended as a team.
I dont think it was Wires best day and you have to assume that Widdop and Austin will have them rolling before too long but, for now, let's just enjoy the win and actually look forward to the next game.

Come on Trin !

Beat Catalans and go joint top lol. It's a funny old game is RL. You just can't predict it at times. Don't be too jubilent when we win or too disappointed when we lose.
Great win today!!

Top effort today, great win built on outstanding defence. My take on trying to answer Fishermans question would be to suggest that playing Tupou on the wing was a good idea, he had his most influential game for ages and it also allowed Arundel who I think is our best centre to play and he was excellent. The other big point is that because of injuries we played Max , Miller and Rocky at 1,6 and 7 which in my opinion is our best option, it worked well two years ago and I hope is now not tinkered with and given time to develop. Rocky defending on the right side had the pace to cut down Ratchford when he was running on the outside having received the ball behind the runner. Miller was poor in the first half but got involved in the second and showed some good touches. The other big difference was that we completed sets. Attitude was excellent as well

Hats off to all the squad today ,a cracking defensive effort from 1-17 and ground out a superb win against one of the form teams. Stood up superbly to everything the wires threw at us, and was only breached once after I think 3 sets on our line .
