| I don't know where they've been hiding him, but the oldest 19 year old in the world was outstanding - not the quickest winger, but strong, committed and really effective; they couldn't put him down for love nor money!

When I told the wife that he was playing she said "why ??, he's rubbish (having seen him play at Headingley on Boxing Day)....suffice to say she had humble pie for tea last night !!!
Stand up Mr Kershaw and take a bow

Having not seen much of the 19's or indeed friendlies for a while, I did wonder who the old man was when he ran out with the squad, I thought perhaps a new coach. Still it seems that 50 year old strength inside a 19 year old body worked well as a combination.

I didn't say he was slow - I said he isn't the fastest.

I know what you meant but what I'm saying is he's faster than certainly I was led to believe, that was a quick length of the field. we are pretty lucky to have three genuine speedsters at the club in TJ, MCB and despite reports to the contrary BJB. Under normal circumstances we'd be marvelling at our pacy new winger

| We also have Reece, who seems to be the quickest of the lot!

My observation was more about his relative speed - he doesn't have the acceleration of TJ, the effortless glide of BJB or the blistering straight line pace of MCB or Lyne; but I still wouldn't fancy my chances in a 100m race against him.
I like a rough and tough nuggety winger - and that seems to be his forte; legs like tree trunks, able to bust a tackle, and more bottle than Ben Shaws.

He's fast but I'd say he's slower than all three wingers.

According to the club stats posted a couple of seasons ago, Reece was the fastest over a 60m straight line sprint.

Indeed he isis, a totally different beast to the others. It too early to get carried away but his style (and I'm not saying he is anywhere near as good) is more like Carney was when he signed for Cas, rough and tough but with more than enough pace to finish the job. Certainly gives us options.INOUT

Yeah I'd have to agree, Reece can only find that pace occasionally as far as I can tell but the others can find it all the time. Its a bit like Daves occational runs, he finds it from somewhere but not all the time. That said again its nice to have that Reece option as he's more than quick enough.

| Mixing this and another thread, we have more size in the forwards than I ever remember - who know how to use it (no offence to previous incumbents such as Wayne McDonald and Chris Feather), and more pace generally across the backs.
Like with the forwards, the key difference is we are much better at making use of it - Paul Sampson, Paul White, Andrew Frew etc had pace to burn, but either didn't see enough ball, or didn't know how to use it.
I don't think anyone has even mentioned Tupou's surprising turn, which like Lyne is allied to strength to shrug off players, and both miller and Brough are still sharp - the latter impressively so for his age!

| Forgot my on thread bit - great debut, entertaining, seemed to revel in getting stuck in, looks bloody awkward to tackle.

| Wonder how the lad must've felt when running towards a pretty much packed North Stand cheering him on for his try.
