Why do I get the impression he doesn’t know the Wakefield players names as well as the Leeds team. I know it’s their first attempt and they are doing what no other station is doing so we will just need to give them time.

My feedback after listening to the first half would be try to avoid long pauses in the commentary, it probably doesn't seem like it behind the mic but you can really tell when listening. Try and describe where the action is taking place a lot more.

To be honest ben's done a lot better in the second half

I wonder if it boils down to their location on the ground and if he can read the names on the shirts

Found myself counting the times the word THAT was used, driving THAT ball, carrying ThAT ball etc etc plus long pauses in Comentry

Some crowd noise would be good. Sounded like Wakefield library.
Maybe get the north stand miked up?
Always difficult with so many subs keeping track of who's on the field.
Decent first effort. Looking forward to listening through the season.

There didn't appear to be names on shirts for either team, so probably didn't help a commentator.

Fair enough then unless you followed a team you are unlikely to immediately recognise them. I have to admit that on more than one occasion over the years recognising the Wakefield team could be quite difficult

It was pretty quiet in the crowd today.
Pre season games are usually fairly quiet, unless there's a bit of biff.

firstly I would say how great it is to have live full wakey games live on radio so I can listen over here.

comments as posted on here - the long pauses and silence were not good - we are not at the game so can not see whats going on, I think the commentators were watching the game and forgot they were supposed to be commentating - this will come with more experience at the ground-- yes need some crowd noise ,it felt like you were not at the game and calling from a studio - and I know this will happen over time but please learn and get to know the wakey players - I think sometimes it went a whole set of six of us with the ball and not one name mentioned.

But all in all it was Great!!! cant wait to listen to very game! thanks for doing this.
