Was it, sorry my mistake.

I thought he had tried to take us over, and at the time, we told him that we weren't interested, which then shortly afterwards, he took over Leeds.

Paul Caddick threatened to sue each individual YCCC Member for loss of projected earnings that ran into millions and would have worked out at hundreds of thousands of pounds of liability for everyone.

Quote: Trinity1315 "I thought it was Paul Caddick who scuppered that deal insisting YCCC honour the contract they had signed to play at Headingley, preventing their move to Durkar?
I know that the council were in favour of it until YCCC pulled out and then interest dwindled.'"

Without involving Caddick who although he played his part in Yorks CCC not going there he was not the main reason the plans fell through.
Colin Croxall the leader of Wakefield Council who represented the Eastmoor ward in the city for Labour convened a meeting with the landowner, the the council and uncle Ted, the sheer greed of one person in that meeting resulted in the club being in the situation it is in today and unfortunately had nothing to do with dwindling interest as Councillor Croxall's did his upmost to bring about his dream of uniting both clubs on Denby Dale Road.

My recollection of the issue was Headingley was not for upgrading and YCC sought another venue, this was identified in Durkar. However LCC relented and put dome funding towards upgrading the cricket side of Headingley this by Caddivk leaving Wakefield in the lurch so to speak

Quote: TRB "Even my eternal optimism is tested to the full after all these years. The faith put on some people / organisations has been misplaced and the appetite by those who have authority to bring these to book is not there. The time for a change of course in this process draws ever nearer, but there is still a 1 in a million chance that what will inevitably follow could be avoided.'"

The problem with what will inevitably follow is that it still probably won't result in what we all want, a fit for purpose ground. It might stop a couple of development people making money but thats about it, they'll just abandon the site an inch before the trigger point. But the lawyers will make plenty of brass though.

You may well be correct, I think any reasonable person looking at the full facts would take the view that we will end up with nothing. Also preventing the developer getting all he wants could be considered scant reward.

I really think the only benefit we will end up with is the 'moral high ground' and one day someone who is reasonable and fair may get control of the council and start to put right some of the wrongs we have suffered.

I wouldn't like to comment on the Headingley side of things because other than Caddick's legal threat I don't know what went on, but the outcome had no bearing on Croxall's ambition to build a stadium for Trinity, this was scuppered by one person's greed who just wasn't satisfied with a new ground.

Peter Box is the only person who can make anything happen, so we will get nothing as it is 100 % down to him, he does not want sports facilities at Newmarket, he does not want BV rebuilt and he undoubtedly wants Trinity to fail. He has played a blinder, Newmarket will get developed without sports facilities so Box will say .. good for jobs. Box is working with Yorkcourt to make sure that no monies are paid to rebuild BV, Box will ensure that Yorkcourt will get all the planning permission they want and need at Newmarket. If anyone doubts that have a look at the 42 m high box built at Newmarket, original planning consent at Newmarket stated 13 m height plus of course the Box special of allowing it to be built and not be included in the amount of land to be developed before the stadium trigger point was reached. The final Box special will be that he will say that the council have built a stadium for Wakefield to play out of in Cas. And yet as always the people of Wakefield will keep voting him in and the local press will simple not look into Box and his dealings, they just do and print what Box wants. Massive credit to all who continue the fight for justice, he has to be the most frustrating task ever dealing with Box.

That's unfortunately how I see it too. The only way we were ever likely to get the Stadium was if Yorkcourt were not allowed to lay a brick until they had enough people signed up to buy plots on the development to fund the stadium build and provided proof of the same.

We can blame the council and they are certainly responsible for some failings along the way, but I think the Planning Inspector for the SoS is ultimately to blame for allowing the trigger point of 60,000 meaning Yorkcourt were always going to realise some profit from the land and be able to walk away saying they had not breached their obligations.

Yes.

Sadly my facetious post early on seems to be depressingly accurate.

Old article, but may shed a bit more light onto how things stand - supporting the suspicion that York Court will probably get within an inch of the trigger threshold for the stadium, and probably leave it there.

I feel sorry for Michael Carter they guy has been defecated on from several angles. If things don't change I believe the guy has no other option other than to leave.

Belle Vue is no longer fit for purpose , so what choice has the guy got ?

He will most likely choose Dewsbury and if its a move to there, or anywhere else (except Cas) I will hold my hand up now and back the guy 100%
