I would check to make sure he wasn't 'wired' up

| I have to laugh at the forum experts yet again with their total lack of insight and short memories.
Last year we got Simon Grix who never played for us and was never going to - then we got Anthony England who did.
This year we get Ben Harrison who may play who knows - but next year because there is no smoke without fire we may see Jordan Cox arrive (a guess).
See a pattern - there must be a you scratch my back thing going on though I don't know exactly what it is.
Just a thought.

| Maybe someone can explain how signing a player who isn't likely to play for you can influence a future signing. I would of thought that the club play very little part in any negotiations of a player out of contract and the final say must be up to the player himself. England I believe was released from his contract with Warrington because of the travel. I doubt Warrington could do a deal with Wakefield and make it binding.

I really don't know tbh but somethings going on because this is the second time.
When we signed Grix there must have been something in it for everyone - Brian Smith and Michael Carter are not stupid men and neither is Chester.
I doubt Harrison will feature much if at all and he's certainly not looking for a move anywhere with his testimonial due next year so I can't see him pulling up trees for us - don't get the reason but I'm fairly sure it's all very deliberate rather than stupid.
Just a thought.

| All below is an opinion.
In a similar way to how Clarke was a Warrington player for his last year at Cas, transfer fee paid and maybe Cas used this to pay his wages within their cap space.
Grix off the books allowed cap space for Sandow, favour repaid with 1st option on England.
Harrison off the books, being covered by our cap space, may keep wire under cap if they have bonuses to pay, favour repaid next year.

That's how I see it - MC has a good relationship with TS, so you'd have to see this as some kind of mutual arrangement; maybe they need to get Harrison off the cap for the rest of the year or somesuch, so we're Wire's hospital club again, in return for a favourable deal on Atkins/Cox or a.n other.

| Last season they had a player coming in hence they had to reduce their official wage bill, this time they do not. I don't understand what either club have to benefit from the arrangement and therefore why would you extrapolate that it means Warrington will owe us. He is either fit and can play albeit this is questionable considering he had not done so since last September because there is no other reason for this deal. I guess time will tell if we see him in the red, white and blue but one thing for certain we will not next season.

There could definitely be some logic behind what's been said. Conversely though from a n other fans point of view, I'd have liked an extra body at Prop, especially with England out (our most consistent Prop) and Annakin out for the season, along with Simon and also then add Johnstone. Although I'm not too sure how long Simon and Johnstone are out for. We also all still live in hope that Finn and Miller aren't gonna cop an injury at some point as well.
That is of course if MC and CC have weighted it all up & are happy with what we've done this year and feel no need for any extra bodies/expense at this point. They must think going into the Semi, which is our main objective, we can field a strong enough side( except for those we know are definitely out) to do the job. Part of a save cash this year, now we're safe and invest next year to improve the squad type thing. Who knows hey.

| Looks like there wasn't anybody good enough available, for whatever reason, so we're saving the cash rather than pandering to a few fans by signing a dud on full pay. The arrival of Lisa Dingle is purely a favour to Wire to help get him fit. He may figure in some of the later games against the rest of the top 4, one way of assisting Wire's push for the title.

How are you privy to the internal machinations at Wire, as well as WT?
The tone of your post suggests that you believe this to be a duff arrangement - whereas most sensible people would agree that neither MC or TS are idiots; so TS wouldn't come up with a complex arrangement for Harrison without good reason, and MC wouldn't allow his club to be used and abused by Wire, unless there was mutual benefit.
Which is most likely - everyone involved is less intelligent than you, or there's something agreed that we won't be party to until it actually materialises?

| It could even be a try before you buy deal similar to Ormsby at Huddersfield?
