That's all very well saying he's the best coach we've had for a very long time, but then you don't go on to say why this is?! If someone from another club came on here and said, since he's been here, what is his record of wins and losses, and was told, it wouldn't make great reading would it?! We have only beaten SL opposition once under his leadership, think it's one win out of 12 attempts now, so what qualifies him in being the best coach we have had for a very long time? I think he's been put on a pedestal on here by some people, wrongly, then when anyone dares to criticise him they get very defensive. At the end of the day, he's no different to any other coach, they are there to be shot at, they know that, it's the same in football, they will be judged on results, again rightly or wrongly, that's the way it is. On a slightly different topic, it's quite interesting that most people said after Webster went, all the 'deadwood' needed clearing out etc, yet if Moore & Simon would have been fit, that 17 that played against Widnes would have been very similar to the one that played in the million pound game, I think Widnes had the same number of new arrivals almost, including one guy who only stepped off the plane a week ago. Also, the backroom staff hasn't changed hardly, so the sweeping changes under BS haven't really materialised have they?

For what it's worth though, I thought we did reasonably ok on Sunday, but again it was an opportunity missed, i'm quite concerned the way we seem to start games under BS, it happened quite often last season under him, I don't know what it is, but they just seem to be slow out of the blocks for some reason.......

It's simple really Asmadasa summed up his opinion in one sentence, where as it took you a whole paragraph to try and get your opinion across, while at the same time trying unsuccessfully to disprove his.

I can't believe this tread is still rumbling on, even the OP has since back tracked.

Love to know who this better coach is waiting in the wings.

A coach's role in any environment is to improve people and environments. Brian Smith has proven ability to do this. In a sporting environment, a by-product of that improvement is players skills/attitude etc increase and matches/competitions are won.
I believe that this year we will see that improvement on the field to go along with improvements off the field made by Michael Carter.

Knee jerk reactions spring to mind. We could have only dreamt of a coach with Smith's CV before he came here.

At the end of the day mate, i'm sure Asmadasa couldn't care less what I've put, he's fully entitled to his opinion, I've just asked a question in response to what he put, if he wants to answer and expand on what he's put, that's up to him. icon_smile.gif Like I've said, he's given an opinion, when I've stated how many matches we have won under BS, i'm dealing in facts, which can't be debated or argued with, you can then of course argue whether it's fair or not as a coach to be judged solely on results, but i'm sure BS couldn't give a toss as to what I or anyone else thinks about his win/loss record since he's been here. The problem is, we have got so used to watching dross mostly, any little bit of improvement and it's like a massive overreaction. The point i'm trying to make, and yes there is one, somewhere, icon_lol.gif is that BS or anyone else is not above being criticised, it goes with the territory, it's gone on for years as we all know, just replace pubs and clubs with social media, if people don't like a thread about the pros/cons of our current coach, then don't post. a014.gif

Great post......i not for one minute saying he should go but at the end of the day it is 1 win out of 12 v Sl clubs isnt good enough what if we were to lose our next 3 away games which is very possible any other coach there would be serious questions asked with a 1 in 15 ratio.time will tell im hoping a couple of suprise wins will boost confidence and we start to win games

Listen mate it was merely an observation on my part, asmadasa does not need me to defend his opinions he's more than capable on that score, I'm sure had he wanted to he could have justified his post with an in depth assessment of the situation but chose instead to simply say that in his opinion Smith has been the best for quite a while, whereas you chose to disagree which is your choice to make but you then argue that Smith's win rate is poor yet then defend him because as you say is it fair to judge him on wins alone, but it's noticeable you don't offer an alternative name.
As you are quick to point out if people don't like what's been written on certain threads they should not post, conversely when you do post you should be prepared to accept that everybody won't always agree with your point of view a014.gif

what the hells going on. if you remember B S took over when the club was in a right state. The dressing room stank and the players had no interest. Ihen our playmaker goes on a bender . I can only imagine the problems that encased club but it all came together at the season end when players had been trusted to carry out the clubs business .
I don't know what some of you expect but in B S we have a seasoned R L man that will turn the club round.
The target was to keep the Trin in the S L and having achieved that the guy deserves some respect and time to improve the fortunes of our club.

Jesus Christ no one is talking about sacking Smith! What some people are trying to do are discussing whether or not Smith will turn out to be the saviour that some hope him to be. The only hysterical over reaction is coming from those who think the sun shines out of his backside.

FWIW I would only look at his win/loss ratio at the round he joined last year, not now.

For what its worth I don't think he did any better than JK would have had he been at the tiller or a fair few other about last season but and this is where we will see the benefit Smith will go about putting things in place that will stand us in good stead for future years. The bloke is a vast knowledge of the game on and off the field and knows his stuff yes Sunday was a loss but the season is more than one game long. He has brought some good players in that just need time to settle and lets face it you would need to go to the refs sponsor to not notice how much fitter the players are. Give the bloke a chance we are only one game in if we were half the season in and looked unfit and had loss after loss we could all say no not as good as made out but some how I don't think we will.

Too right BS is putting structures in place, this started last season, when T.Smith, Locke and L.Smith were dropped for the most important game in the clubs recent history.
Someone has already mentioned,it's not going to happen overnight at Trin, unfortunately some people can't see past the ends of their noses.
