| Got to agree with KK.
If we only do 1 promotional poster then the place to display it would be on the Club shop window.

| Quote: Khlav Kalash "Poptart it's not so much the shop was closed, and there was plenty open in the Ridings, it's the fact the club hasn't taken a cheap opportunity to advertise the game to potential customers who may come to the match. Existing season ticket holders know when the game is on. This is about attracting the casual fan. If we don't grow the support we'll continue to with the trend of an ever decreasing supporter base meaning the club will find it that bit harder to compete in the future.'"
OK maybe I was being a bit cheeky. I take your point about putting something in the window, as long as you are not expecting the shop open all the time.
If I was going to put posters up, they need to be in places with maximum traffic with motorway exits and major routes in town.
Obviously the shop poster costs nothing so should always be there.

| We have been around for 120 years, does a poster on the club shop really make a difference?
People may not like what he is doing at the moment but he is giving us a fighting chance of staying in SL withe the appointment of BS and if BS leaves at the end of the season, who's to say that there isn't already a replacement lined up, because who would have expected BS to be at Wakey?
Expect the unexpected.

I'd expect the shop to be open when there is more chance potential customers are likely to go into it (weekends and bank holidays) and if it must be closed during the day perhaps choose midweek.
I agree a large billboard poster with plenty of traffic passing by would be much better, however there isn't the money nor the appetite to go down that route. I don't know how much a billboard costs, but I did see my old school advertise on the poster by the side of Trinity Walk and a small cake shop in Ossett advertise on the one as you pass under the railway bridge by the side of the Seat garage on Denby Dale Road.
The whole reason I posted what I did was to expand on what lampyboy and bren brought to the thread.

| Quote: vastman "This is a really poor attempt at a rallying cry and will frankly just polarise opinion, so IMHO a poor effort even if a worthy one.
Avenger you strike me as a bright person, hence I find it hard to believe you are seriously suggesting MC has injected £853,000 into the club. I seriously doubt he has but seeing as I have not seen the accounts I can't examine them fully. As there are no shareholders and the club is Ltd I'm surprised you've seen them, can you please direct us all as to where we can view them?
Accounts are complicated beasts and can be made to read many many ways so I suspect it's more like this. MC has taken on the liabilities of 850k, he's not however put up 850k worth of securities. He's able to do this because the banks know that WTRLFC (or Michael Carter Ltd) receive 1.2 million in Sky money every year as per contract and that money secures the debt. Even if we drop he knows most of the liabilities would be written off if the club failed as he personally would not be liable, that's why it's a Limited Liability company.
He may have put some monies into the club and he may well have put up some securities on some of the more fragile debts - and good for him - but 850k, sorry Avenger but though I lack the info and am no accountancy expert I just don't believe that.
I'm sure he's doing a lot and seems straight as a die in that respect but let's not guild the lilly - we are lucky to have him I agree, in fact we are lucky to have anyone.'"
Not quite sure what I've done wrong here.
I've cut n pasted exactly what it says in the accounts, no spin or changing the context, draw your own conclusion as to whether it's cash injected or guaranteeing debts/loans and liabilities.
Neither am I protecting or Championing anyone, just think it's time we started fighting those from outside rather than tearing ourselves apart with infighting

| I don't think any can really question MC's intentions, it's just his execution of some things (PR and Marketing mainly) that some
question. He certainly isn't a bad guy!!

All the die hard Wakefield fans do not have to search out any information regarding the club, they already have that, hence the term die hard fans, even the fickle ones what are now deserting in their hundreds know when the club are playing and don't need any posters to tell them.
As for the people of Wakefield not knowing if the club exists, one very simple question for you, do you honestly believe they even care.

| a guy used to come round to our local pub & always pinned a poster up for the next home game, apart from beginning of season haven't seen one for months. to me there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm for promoting the club with whatever format. die hard fans will always go to matches but casual fans of super league need some reminders of when there is a home game, they don't have to be a Wakey supporter neither, just a rugby league fan who might just decide to attend a match. is there a specific person employed now by the club to promote the Wildcats?

| The club used to design the poster, you downloaded it and stuck them up wherever you thought appropriate, it just needs someone to design it for the club, anyone out there capable?

Nothing really, it's hard to word things on here.
Just think it might have been better if you hadn't sort of started your post with the "commitment of the Chairman" comment - it tends to suggest there are two camps on tis issue when it's a bit more complex than that - but hey I didn't word that well.
I also think that perhaps yo've over egged it a bit in terms of what he's actually put into the club - but you may be right.
It did appear as if you were vhampioning him a bit but if you say you weren't that's good enough for me.
Forums aye, you just can't please everyone

The last thing you need when you're trying to build and manage a brand is a fan designing posters - that's why it's important that the club has a proper marketing strategy, and someone to implement it.

I must have worded it poorly, someone was given the task by the club, they were then vetted before allowing them to be downloaded and printed off.
