I dissagree Michael Carter should have made his comments about the non deal being a WMDC & YCP scam and made his feelings known to anyone reading the story.
As it is, the majority of those who read the Wakey Express now only have YCPs & WMDC s side of the tale and think Trinity have been saved by the wonderful Colin Mackie and Peter Box.
There's a small Trinity faithful who know the Clubs side of it but no one else does. Should Michael Carter now refute the story in next weeks Express it'll probably be 6 pages inside and have about 5 column inches as opposed to the splash headline of this mornings report.
Once again, I'm asking those who are closer to this, Why has Sir Rodney backed this offer and broken with the stance being taken by the Chairman?

I cannot agree more the problem is that following every meeting we have a few in the club that know what was discussed. In addition the other parties knew so decided to go to the press while the club side decided to keep it secret. We now have a situation where we all know what one side indicates they are offering and another saying it was not acceptable.
At best it shows a lack of understanding of the press and supporters because the latter would read the article and think that's an ideal solution only then to be informed by the club that we are not making a comment but nothing's changed. This makes them look intransigent and will only consider Newmarket or nothing.

Despite the council slavishly following the Councils narrative Cater defiantly missed a chance to rubbish the story. As time goes bye the more and more my suspicions grow of Rodney Walkers motivations, I'm just hoping maybe he was somehow miss quoted.
In 2011 Glover threatened to organise a boycott of the paper after a series of sensationalised negative stories. I'm sure the coverage of the club got better after that. Maybe time to go down that road again?

| I think that by not making a comment they are already boycotting the paper leaving others to fill the void. I guess we will hope for better support from the Dewsbury herald next season.

Whatever it seems from those comments Walker is coming from the opposite direction that Carter is which doesn't make it look great. You have to wonder what his real reasoning is.

| It would appear that by speaking to the press the developer has confirmed they will buy the ground and rent it back to us at a reduced rate. They have stated that Newmarket will be built within five years. I know it could be just another stalling technique but Rodney Walker appears to buy into it further isolating the club who currently appear to stand alone.
We are advised that what is being offered was unacceptable but sadly we do not know why, all we do know is that both the Trust and Council have accepted it. This just leaves us the supporters in the dark, we are told trust the club they are doing the best but currently all I know is that Rodney Walker accepts it whilst all I read from the club is the possibility we are to move to Dewsbury.
I no longer understand the secrecy why can't the club or those supporters involved just tell us what they believe the offer is so we can compare it with the recent statement. The silence just suggests we are working to our own plan and will follow it regardless of the effect on the club.

| The club say that we cannot stay at Belle Vue due to the cost and now it seems that the council/ developer/ Rodney Walker has found a way of reducing the cost for us so that we can stay.
If money is the actual reason surly this is good news (if it happens) but if it more to do with Carter and other issues we will still be off to Dewsbury

I think the answer is in agenda.
Carter is running a business of sorts and his aim as we all know is to balance the books. So in his eyes it seems to make no difference where we play just so long as we can afford it and if possible increase revenue. So he has no real reason again in his eyes to push BV or more critically stay witthin the Wakefield boundaries.
Rodney on the other hand isn't representing WTWRLFC but the whole city - that is what the Trust is for - he technically has no connection to the club at all. So for Rodney and the Trust their needs are in the short term the exact opposite of Carters in many ways. Hence staying at BV and within Wakefield until NM is ready (and he has to believe that will happen) is paramount to him as it gives more credence to the Trusts case.
Hence MC will only see negatives and Rodney positives where BV is concerned and both are correct.
Basically both men have different agendas even if the final goal is the same. This means that although united in a common goal, they are probably some way apart on how to achieve this.
Hope this wasn't patronising just the way I see it.

A reasonable and plausible summary, thanks.
The only element I think is missing is the sudden panic our beloved councillors are displaying as they realise just what the implications of their indifference to the problems they have helped generate for our club could be. No pro sports team in Wakefield, large areas of open land tarmacced over on the promise of a stadium that never happens and allegations of incompetence (or worse) in their dealings with the developer. The article reeks of propaganda designed to calm the masses.

Makes sense, Carter is an accountant at heart and his focus is the bottom line. As long there is a balance I don't suppose he cares where the club play or at what level.

Agreed and as MC rightly points out it's all just words for now.

Don't trust any of the parties involved (TRB, IA, SC and others aside). They all have their own agendas.
