To use the fact it goes on elsewhere in other walks of life so who cares is an odd stance to take.i was at the match with 20 10 year old kids. Thankfully they are old enough and wise enough not to carry in like the idiots did.
Ok it wasn't exactly terrible scenes of violence but it is still unacceptable in a family environment and any environment to be fair.
We sell ourselves as a family sport and any antisocial behaviour is unacceptable.
It also gives the small but brilliant following that we took and the club an unwanted rep by association with a few idiots.'"
We were sat near them and Jonh it happen at half time 1 person ran down to the other end to me it looked like he wanted to sit down at that end as we were going to be playing that way, But the stewards intervened rightly so thats when it kicked off 1 woman ran down there to have words but came back and then the big bloke went down after he had thrown the steward out of is way then it kicked off again ,dont know what happen after that to them.

| I'm a Cas fan, and I do mean it when I say good luck in the middle eight's, and hope you'r our opponents for another three games next season.
We may be bitter rivals on the field, and for some, off it, but we all come from the WMDC area, and long may it last, once again the very best of luck.

It had to be you.
Never said it was a powder keg but if it helps I’ve been to Alton Towers twice in my life and seen a fist fight both times - does that analogy help.
Who says RL is a family game! It never has been in the 30 years I’ve watched it. Sure it has a much better track record than football the other great working class sport. However it’s always been tribal and there have always been incidents.
This family stuff is something SKY have forced on us with Hemmings and his nonsense. We are a generally good natured lot but not saints - crowd trouble will happen the law of averages tells you that.
I’m glad we have a generally good crowd record in RL. I also hope these people are dealt with by due process and punished accordingly. However I’m not going to join you on the moral soap box. These things happen but thankfully not very often - move on and enjoy the game - I won’t lose any sleep over it.

| Given we have a suspended find hanging over our heads for crowd behaviour issues earlier this season then i think the club will want the culprits finding and banning asap to show it is taking the matter extremely seriously. Otherwise it could get costly.

| No I doubt an official complaint has been raised because it was nothing. Some of you clowns are making a bigger deal than it actually was

| i'm pretty sure the injured steward wouldn't see it as nothing, or i'm pretty sure if your club was fined, yet again, for the behaviour of some of it's fans, i doubt they'd see it as nothing either.

| The police got involved and let it go. I hope the steward is ok, I'm sure he is. People are dragging it on on here because they have sad little lives with nothing better to do. If you felt so strongly about it why didn't you confront the guys involved?

| Well you presume wrong. I wasn't at the game. I do know what happened though and it's been dealt with.

I would think a couple have the Stewards to thank then for not wanting to take it further as I was at the game and saw the latter stages of it from where we were at the opposite end of the ground to the away fans.
It's all well and good making light of it and as I have said it wasn't on a par with a riot or anything like that but it was stupid and could have been costly to the Wakefield club.
The notion that fans should confront them once they have started is nearly as funny as watching them waddle down the touchline trying to catch up with the lads who were being taken out, sure a couple had to stop to get their breath a couple of times before they got to the bottom end.
Confronting lads who are kicking off with Stewards is only going to aggravate the situation and potentially get others involved unnecessarily.
The real fans did the right thing by letting the Stewards deal with it, it is after all what they are paid and trained to do. Idiotic actions like that tarnish the small but excellent majority that travelled, all because they have had a sniff of the bar mans apron.

Oh that would have helped. Great idea.
But as they were charging off to the stewards around the pitch it was unlikely anyway.

| Quote: vastman "I have to laugh at these threads, especially the mock Daily Mailesque outrage of some.
Every Saturday night across the land hundreds of folk are arrested for drink fuelled public order offences some extremely violent or even fatal but most accept the reality of the situation.
A RL match is in some ways an even more explosive situation yet these events are relatively uncommon and it amazes me it doesn't kick off more often. Crowds, beer, mob mentality, human nature, passions ignited - some will always respond badly it's human nature what do you expect?'"
I'm genuinely surprised at your attitude to this Vast.
What I expect is to be able to pay to watch a rugby match without having to watch out for thuggish hooligans.
I don't think it should be a problem on Saturday night but clearly it is in some places but that place shouldn't be on a Sunday afternoon at a rugby match.
They need to know it isn't acceptable.
I hope they are prosecuted by the club and the police.
This behaviour will make people stay away and will kill the club even more.

| I have to agree with Vasty - whilst public order offences at sporting events are pernicious and unpleasant, it's hardly a big surprise that they happen; rivalry, beer and an eclectic mix of people - I would suggest that if you stick a few thousand people in those circumstances anywhere, there'll be a few incidents; it's the way of the world. What matters is how its dealt with - and it sounds like this one was dealt with quite well?
As for the family game nonsense - RL really is no more a family sport than any other, and hasn't been for donkeys years - certainly not in my lifetime.
