| Quote: shirley briggs "i'm a season ticket holder but i can't believe what i read on monday that we have thrown in the towel on the league and we are waiting for the middle 8. very upset i spend £200 plus on a season ticket to then hear this so no i wont be at the game friday and i wont be buying a season ticket next season one miffed off fan'"
Think you've misunderstood a little, focusing on the middle 8 is not the same as "throwing the towel in"

| Quote: newgroundb4cas "I would give Hall,Ali and Kirmond a rest. Smith and Sammut half back pairing as this is a good practice game to see if it works and to re-kindle the excellent partnership that rudely got interupted. Jowitt fullback excellent first team experience against Halifax. Hall , Kirmond and Ali been ever present they don't need to prove anything to me, deserve a rest ready for the Wigan game next week.'"
Can't give three out of the 19 selected for the game a rest so I think Hall would definitely play as Jowitt not in the 19 which is the first choice 19 of those fit to play with Kavanagh excluded due to the lateness of his signing yesterday.
As for the other two I'd agree if carrying knocks. Kirmond hasn't been an ever present and was rested a couple of games back. Ali in last season of career and will be needed in more important games.

| Totally agree with Shirley Briggs. I too am a season ticket holder and paid the full price for mine. Survival in Superleague although essential should NOT be at the expense of saving the team for the last 7 games. I want to be entertained. I dont expect us to win every game but I expect 100 percent effort every game from the coach and players. I think the coach should resign for his comments. If we do fail to compete in any more games in the normal season our crowds will be so low there will be no point staying in superleague because the club will be bankrupt. However , the real culprit in all this is Red Hall who have saddled us with a flawed system that allows teams to lose all the 23 games in the main season then just beat 3 or 4 championship teams . That makes a mockery of the first 23 rounds.

| Quote: Greg Florimos Boots "Im expecting our pack to get on top of Wakeys but Im not too sure we will have enough quality in the backs to get the win. That said if we get a couple of early tries then I expect Wakey players heads to drop and we could run out easy winners. Wakey havnt the quality to put the cleaners through us so a close one either way or decent Fax victory.'"
If our pack puts in the same performance of previous weeks you may have a point. I expect a far higher level of performance than previous weeks. I'm going with the wounded animal theory. Last weeks embarrassment of ours was probably the worst result for Fax. However I do expect Moore to have a stormer.

| Sorry my mistake yes he is with us thankfully until the end of the 2016 season (unless it's the championship I bet) but he is 36 in 11 weeks and Trinity need to ensure he is fit and playing in the most important games.

| Page 4 of the League Express Martyn Sadler says its sad to see James Webster virtually suggesting his side will throw in the towel for the first 23 rounds.
If James Webster didn't mean to say he was throwing in the towel let him publicly state so.

Great post, pretty much sums it up for me.
The only thing to add is that, we cant just rest squad members until the last 7 games as they could easily pick up a knock in their first outing after the split.
It's about getting as many of our senior squad members to be at their peak at the right time.
Also, to throw the towel in, with 13 games left of the "regular" season would be a disgrace.
I'm all for playing the system but, RL is sporting entertainment and as you say, the fans shouldn't be expected to turn up and watch utter dross for nigh on 3 months.
The effect that this would have on a dwindling fan base would be catastrophic.

| The bookies seem more confident of a wakey win than me. They are usually right. You can get odds of 8 to 1 on a Halifax win. I am not a betting man but if you put your 15 quid on Halifax and the mighty trin don't turn up that's a few pints to drown your sorrows

| No sammut or godinet yet miller n smith play week in week out. Webster probably a nice man but hes no leader. If he was a real leader of men he would fall on his sword

| Well, we survived the potential banana skin of Halifax and won comfortably (in the end)
Plenty o positives from last night and with a bit more confidence, which can only come for decent performances, hopefully Webster and the team can
use last night as a springboard for the rest of the season.
There were plenty of decent performances last night, albeit against lower rank opposition and for me we should try and have a real dig at the challenge cup.
Lets hope foe another home draw, preferably against another Championship club and then we can perhaps have found some good form for the following rounds
and the latter part of the season.
Onwards and upwards !

| We have a habit of kickstarting another team's season. Struggling to put together performances? Let Wakey come to town and you're up and running. The positive is that maybe it's our turn. Draw a line after the first ten games and start again.
