| Wow that's a very strong leeds team. I thought they would have rested a few today.

If I was short sighted I could become a referee!: |

| With reference to the 2005 surprise win a Leeds mentioned earlier in the thread. We simply don't have a Never Say Die type player like Jason Demitriou to set an example to the rest of the team. As much as a like and respect Kirmond he doesn't have that type of influence on the team

| Scruton is a natural leader although hopefully will be rested today.
Don't think WTW have got a chance of winning looking at the strong Leeds lineup. Hope another 2005 miracle occurs...
The format of the new league system almost means that WTW could rest players (that may be fit to play) for several weeks until the play off format starts?

| Usually, the most eagerly awaited away fixture of the season, despite rare success but, despite not having missed this one for 15+ years
I cant face this one today.
Leeds are 1/66 with the bookies and have 32 points start and they will clear the handicap with ease.
As a Wakefield fan, you don't mind losing but, to travel with little expectation of any effort from the team is depressing.
I'll be stuck next to radio Leeds and hope for some kind of miracle, it is Easter after all.
Sorry for bottling it

| Unfortunately the new structure is fatally flawed and the every second counts slogan is totally incorrect. For Wakefield the only games that are going to count now are the last 7.

Unless we get one of those rare Trinity against all the odds, completely out of the blue, came from nowhere, illogical, makes no sense, where did that come from performances Leeds will get 80 points today.
Watkins and Cuthbertson will get hatricks

| Prior to 9.45pm on Thursday evening both daughters were adamant that they wanted me to take them to Headingley this afternoon. However, following that disgraceful performance against Les Cats, they have both now changed their mind, and I simply cannot justify forking out the best part of £100 for 4 of us to go and watch more of the same. Sorry boys, will be staying at home today.

Time plays tricks on the mind. If JD had a never say die attitude then why did Hudds smash us into the ground at home 3 days earlier. JD was a fine player but was not a great one for the very reason you are praising him - IMHO his head went down far to often. As for the Leeds game it was March who led the line not JD. We were lucky that day even if we did make our own luck to a certain degree.

Players to drop out of the 19 man squad are Crowther and Trout so why are we playing someone who is carrying the above injuries when one of these lads could play?

Because the 'we are playing busted players' line is a nice cover up of our many short comings. For me a fully fit Tout and Crowther offer just as much if not more than a Scruton and Kirmond playing on one leg. Surely it would have been the perfect chamce to give these guys a chance for a rest and not risk there injuries getting any worse.

The tweet wasn't really about having busted players. It was about people questioning effort when in fact the players are putting their bodies on the line when busted. I read it as a dig at the moaners. Fair enough to stand up for your staff, I guess, although it was done by having a dig at the customers.
There are a number of possible reasons why it is like it is:
1. Lack of effort? Down to the coaches and players.
2. Poor gameplan? Down to the coach.
3. Poor confidence? Down to the coach.
4. Lack of fitness? Down to the conditioner, coach and players.
5. Lack of quality? Down to finances.
6. Just a bad run? We'll see, I guess.
As fans, we've never expected world beaters. We don't even expect to win most weeks and don't expect silverware. A few scalps, beat Cas and maybe Leeds, and a good cup run tends to be our lot. What we do expect, given our lack of any realistic aspiration for silverware, is effort. For all Glover's faults, he knew how to sell optimism, which generates attendances, which can generate performances. Now, although we rightly opt for realism, we ooze negativity from the top as well.
