Quote: upthecats "A cracking piece of club history there....some great players over the years will have sat on them!

Just another thought that popped into my head this morning while helping Snowie rip a massive tree out and generally doing a few bits of tidying up.....

If just 5% of the posters on this board who can't wait to come on after a match and slag off the coach and the lack of effort players have put in had turned up and helped this morning, then the amount of work that could have been done would have been unbelievable! Seems the lack of effort from fans is a far bit more than what the lads on the field are continually getting slated for.... Are you serious? If anyone should be up at the ground at weekends helping it should be the players, especially this weekend with no game.
Fans do enough in buying tickets, merchandise, refreshments etc.

The east stand dug outs were installed around 1960 ish
At the time when the old St Catherine's school was bought by the club and converted into dressingrooms etc
The origional dug outs were at the other side of the field when the dreesing rooms were under the old grand stand
Oh how time flies !!!!

Are YOU serious?!! Do you realise what state the ground would be in without that band of volunteers going in? What do you reckon you would say if one of our key players dropped a brick (painted white - only a tenner) on his foot and couldn't play? What would you say to putting prices up so that "professionals" could come in and do the jobs? How do you reckon that band of volunteers feel reading your post?

Grow up.

Rant over

Work of the volunteers appreciated , but "professionals" should have been brought in at regular intervals over time to keep up to these things - and wouldn't expect players to do any jobs which H&S may determine too 'dangerous', it should not be down to fans to do these things.

Whilst I do not think that fans should have to resort to working for the club for "free" I can only applaud and admire the fact that they have. Given the financial mire the club is in,i dread to think what the alternative would have been. To belittle what they have done over and above buying merchandise etc is in my opinion a cheap shot.
Never mind back the badge, these guys should be given the freedom of Belle Vue!

That is all.

this hasn't been a case of monkey see monkey do,
all work given to volunteers has been within there skill level and at no time have I allowed anyone to use or do anything that could of harmed them in any way.
we have a safety office by trade, me as may trade covering over 38 years in engineering and others that have similar skills so please don't think that we would of had any rugby players down here that cant catch a ball icon_lol.gif

Cant speak for all that band of volunteers but I think its been worth it meeting some other like minded fans and to an extent I get where metallicat is coming from.I could not get down during the week or this weekend due to matters at home but my youngest only 10 (never shuts up all game urging the players on) asked when we are going down next.It would have been great if we could have started and done the ground in the off season but that's the way it turned out.

Sorry Snowie. I didn't mean that you weren't professional - quite the opposite, having seen you organising things at the ground. I may have just got carried away a bit with a rant. icon_surprised.gifops:

Maybe my earlier mini rant was a little OTT....but in my opinion a lot of the criticism of all things at the club from top to bottom I've seen posted on these boards in the last 2-3 months are aswell....so maybe that was just a little of my inner frustration of that coming out....

Can fully understand the points made by Tricky.....in regards to living too far away....Big Al....who I know from posting on here for many years what time and effort he has given to the club along with many others....also to all the others who have been down....just think there could be a few more who could help out a lot more than they may think....

My sole intention from the start was to go down the once, just so I could say I had done a little as a personal thanks to MC for all he has done for the club I love.....then meeting the guys down there and working alongside them it's kind of infectious and you feel like part of a team and just want to go down and help a bit more....

Have loads on meself at the moment aswell....I work 50 hrs a week Monday to Friday...have a wife and 2 daughters, which to be honest I've kind of neglected a bit on the times I've been down but wouldn't swap any of it and I will be down again if and when needed....if I can....got the rest of my life to make it up to the family....these things need doing now....

Once again, apologies if my earlier mini rant offended anyone....wasn't meant to at all....

I have no problems with anyone that wanted to come down the once or wanted to be there at every given moment, we all have a life away from the club.
there's been many a time I questioned myself why I have taken on such a large task at my age and the reason must be the love for the club and the game, I can understand MC frustrations of what's happening within our game and can see why he might feel the need to walk away, but I can't, its not costing me money just time, having been down there for some time we have found areas that we can improve the club finically and be more efficient in ways that is nothing to do with the game in general and the club are looking to see if this is feasible, simple things like waste management, again something that I have dealt with before

just like to add it was nice seeing Davide down there on sat just helping out
