| At the end of the day, if Sammut could defend as well as he attacked he would not be at Wakefield. He defends no worse than what Tim Smith did, but offers a lot more pound for pound than what Smith did in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more. Look at Smith's performances fo Salford thus far. The usual mixture of great flashes of skill and utter dross. Billiant chip though the defence or pass one minute, hospital pass or no look forward pass the next. I can live without that any day. Sammut is a more consistent player that will make us a less erratic side I hope

he's not there to tackle but his worth is valued else where, Lyne today proved to have a better game but still when he broke away looked like a rabbit in the headlights when confronted by the replacement full back and should of back himself

Absolutely. Sammut seems a constant pest for opposition defences and it is a pleasure to watch. I mentioned at the game that he is like a bullet when he spots a gap, unlike Smith who never seemed to take the line on. So I am sure we can take it on the chin about his defences the same as we took it with Smith.

| Great performance, aided by a woeful catalans side. Special mentions to Tautai who had his best game at belle vue, Scruton despite being ill and smith who just loves the hard work. Also though molloy took his chance well. Sammut looks good with ball in hand but needs to bend his back in defence and mathers could do with looking interested. But a good foundation to build on, need to back it up next week now.

| I thought the 3 props (Tautai, Scruton and Smith) were outstanding with special mention to Tautai who in his first spell was unplayable at times.
I thought our halfs controlled the game and I though Lyne had a good game.

I can't disagree but I think you can let that go for the skills he brings.
Added to that Godinet is more than capable of standing his ground against forwards the net effect is good.
In some ways it can be a positive when opposition try to attack the weak spot as you know exactly where they are heading. If you have two or three like we have had in the past then you are in trouble.
I've said it before, that I was a big fan of Tim Smith but we have improved over all in the halves since he has gone.
I'd go as far as to say the only player not fully replaced is Amor and there is time with some of the front rowers there, Smith especially.

| Praise all round only one point, when Lyne made a break and headed for the flats he would have been better sticking to the wing and feeding Riley he would have scored, but as i say praise all round.

| I couldn't care less if Sammut is a weak link in defence, we haven't signed him to be a defender. If he keeps getting us on the front foot, contributing to tries and kicking 10 from 10 that will do me. Hasn't he kicked 15 from 15 attempts for us now?
