| Quote: jack in the box "I also thought Liam Kaye looked the best of the 'fringe players' and although he played on the wing he came to the club as a stand off. He also plays fullback so I think he could be a player well worth keeping on what I saw yesterday.'"
Agree. The cut out pass to lyne was very good and then to have presence of mind to back up on inside to score
A new fan would have thought Kay was the one who had played 5 or 6 games for 1st team and lyne was out on dual reg!

| Well I'm amazed.
Best of the young Trinity players by a country mile was Ben Shulver - it was so obvious.
First team within two years if he has the right attitude and good coaching.
The other two to catch the eye were Maskil who looked like a proper hooker, cap and all and Molloy looks handy.
Wildie played quite well but SL probably not - ditto Wood.
Cowling and Walshaw dissapointed on the day.
Kay deserves a chance - but at what position?

| Maskill looks a real prospect, and has a lovely pass on him.

| Kaye was very good and deserves a shot.
It's evident to me Wildie and Wood are not halfbacks at SL level.
Maskill if he was the young hooker looks to have exemplary distribution from play the ball and decent vision.
Lee Smith was head and shoulders the main man on the field.

Gee Vasty - you can be so 'bombastic' at times. The bit about Ben Shulver was 'in your opinion'! I thought he went well, but not to the extent you suggest.
I liked the look of young Maskill and agree that Liam Kay went well - IMO.
Wildie and Wood were a mixed bag - which is disappointing when you consider the experience at SL level.
Malloy needs game time, but looked sharp and took his chances well - but so did Trout!
Agree ref Cowling and Walshaw.

I know, but seeing as recently everyone and by that I mean everyone else has decided they are coach of the century why shouldn't I do the same.
You seemed very "bombastic" about Ellis going being a mistake and Aiton not being a good hooker - your opinion and I respect it, hell you may even be right. Or is it not "bombastic" from you? I'm certain Shulver will make it and I have a decent track record on this "bombastic" though it may appear. In 25 years I've got it badly wrong twice, Kieran Allen and Mark Field.
I got it spectacularly right when everyone else yourself included were being very "bombastic" about Westerman being the British Brad Fitler.
I said he was ordinary and he is so I'll back myself on Shulver as I see no reason why he couldn't be challenging for a first team place in a few years time. If that's bombastic by backing a lad then I'm not sure why we have a junior set up at all
I've clearly upset you, why I have no idea but it certainly wasn't intended. However much as I have no wish to annoy you I will continue to express my opinion no matter how giddy they may appear - thanks.

I'm not upset at all! Your opinion is always valid - you don't have to shove it down me throat lad!
I still feel Ellis going was a mistake - but there is no doubt that Aiton has altered his game for the better recently. In his respect I only feel we are requiring too much of him, but if we didn't let Ellis go then it would have been Wildie or Wood and 1) I'm not sure there are many takers and 2) that would reduce our home-grown product - so it was a difficult choice.
I liked Shulver yesterday - but I liked Cowling against Sts last year and he didn't come up to that standard yesterday so we need to see a bit more before the predictions are firmed up.
Kieran Allen - loved his energy - shame.
Mark Field - not sure how that went so spectacularly wrong!?
Westerman - left too late - there is no doubt that he had the talent, but you're right, it hasn't come through or he'd be counting his caps by now!

| Didn't play very clever yesterday, thought we would have looked to get ball wide at every opportunity, instead of trying to bulldoze down the middle. Maybe this was reflected in the lack of 'zip' from Wood in the halves. Thought Hemel's No.8 played ok, not the most athletic looking, but fronted up really well.
