Quote: alleycat "As a shift worker and single parent on a tight budget I havent bought a season ticket for this year, partly because I cant afford the outlay, even though the early bird offer is payable over 3 months, but also I can only make it to 6 or 7 of the games in any case.

If the club were to offer a half season ticket of the games of my choice plus a DD scheme over 6 months or more then it would be perfect for me but I cannot expect or hope they will do so because of the administrative nightmare it would probably cause.'"

If you ask nicely the club might pay it for you too (joke)

That's not right at all.

This is a full time professional sporting organisation requiring a large number of participants. £125 for a full season is stupidly cheap and, whilst I support the reasoning behind it - i.e. growing the numbers of supporters - none of us should accept that this is realistic.

Less than £10 per match for live action sport at the top tier of our sport - when it costs that much to watch pictures projected onto wall at your local cinema - is not sustainable and is in danger of giving people the wrong impression of what can be conceived as value for money - just as you have shown here.

The fact that we are playing poorly is immaterial in this regard - it just makes the sell so much harder.

I agree with him. Regardless of what others are charging I always leave a game thinking 'was that worth £x?' At the end of the season I will bear all that in mind before shelling out again.

Prices need to increase but everyone is facing desperate financial times, the club included. A staged increase over the next 2/3 seasons to Newmarket has to be the way forward. BUT there has to be clarity from the club on Segregation/Smoking/Antisocial behaviour. Happy to do my bit to support the club but it needs to support those that support it better - please!

I would add that they are selling a game of rugby. They are not selling a win. They are not underselling when the team are not doing well.
However, of course you have to judge what you receive for your money. They are selling a game that is as TRB says is easier to sell if we are winning, or even playing in an entertaining way.
I would imagine Agar is not working on the entertainment part, but the winning part. The entertainment is a by-product and is different for each customer.
I found the game at the weekend quite entertaining, even though we didn't win.

In addition, you are paying for type of "membership" to the club to be able to say you are a supporter. Of course you can be that for free and not go but effectively, that's my way of explaining people like me who have watched for years, whether the product has been good or not.

You should always assess whether you are getting value for money and plan accordingly, but for me, the current season ticket price is ridiculous value for money. It isn't for everyone, as not everyone can stump up the cash on a one off and may not know they can attend the games until the day, but for me, I'd probably still buy at £200

The half year season ticket wouldnot be that big an administrative issue.
They can just use the unsold season tickets. You can't use the tickets for games already played so no big deal.

The price would be the question. If they make it half the cost of the full season people might be tempted to wait. They should be more expensive but still good value against on the day price so that they can catch the ones who missed out and are now able to go.

Monthly membership would probably be preferable for most supporters, given the ability to spread the cost over a period of time. That presents an issue for the club however, in that it's not good in cashflow terms.

Maybe they should partner with a licensed credit broker; sell memberships on 0% finance, still bag the cash up front and leave the loan company to deal with those people who default? Have a word with Bradford - I gather they know a bloke!

I think half season tickets are a good idea for those who can't make it to many matches.
The club will know how many season ticket vouchers have actually been used and so what value they are getting from them.

I wonder how many are in similar postiion to myself. I've had a season ticket for the last 2 years, but I only attended 2 matches last year and none so far this year. I'll probably be able to get to 2 or 3 again. I bought a season ticket to support the club. £125 was cheap enough if I only get to 3 matches (£60) and instead of buying a replica shirt. If it was nearer £200, I'd have to reconsider.

I would buy a ticket if it was say, £100 for 6 matches (buy 5 get one free). However, this may have a big knock-on effect to full season tickets with people cherry-picking the best 6 fixtures and missing any that are on TV.

I think the club should also have some recognition of the loyalty of season ticket holders, either some kind of discount, or even something as simple as a badge or pin for continuous support over a number of years. People like their loyalty and committment to be appreciated and rewarded in some way.

The Half season ticket was only for the second half of the season and not, say 6 or 7 tickets that could be used for any home game.
A good idea, especially if the team is going well, as it can entice new ST holders for the following season.
The loyalty thing that Coco mentions is a great ides.
The reward shouldn't be anything costly, but should be something exclusive.
Perhaps, something for 5 years, 10 years and 20 years and if someone makes 50 years they should become life members.
Maybe a wall of "fame" at Newmarket ?

I like the loyalty and pin badge idea. The only downside would be that they won't have the history from previous years.

Agreed it could only start with the new club, but if there's a system outlined, starting small with something for the 3rd year, it would encourage continuity. It could be linked to some benefits regarding the proposed new stadium, as and when.

Just bung it up to £180 and offer easy terms early, that way its helps fans who are not flush with money but wish to sign up.

Do not increase match day gate prices.

Yes a rise in ST's is a given next season imo, so I agree this is probably the best way to go about doing it.
