It was Washbrook, but cheers.

Yup, well played Wakey. It may be no consolation, but you played better than at least two of the teams that made it to the first round of play offs.

Cracking effort. Can't fault the effort.
Smith excellent, defence for 60 mins excellent. Somebody please tell me Ellis was injured and that's why he didn't come back on?? They didn't score with him on field I don't think??

Burrows did us. We couldn't get near him out of acting half, that and Watkins breaking tackles at will.

Anyhow, irrelevant of all that, great effort. Far exceeded expectation.

Proud to be Wakey!!!

Unlucky Wakey - you can be proud of your team, not just for the last game, but the 7 before it. You have plenty to look forward to next season - all the best.

Absolutely outstanding effort by Wakefield, the game basically went down to the fact that Leeds had more star power and more game changing individuals than us. Every-time Kallum Watkins touched the ball, Lee Smith didn't have a clue how to defend against him and ended up on his backside, poor Ben Cockayne was then left by himself against Watkins, Jones-Bishop and Burrow on two occasions and he didn't have a chance.

In my opinion, Danny Cowling would be a preferred centre instead of Lee Smith - he is much quicker and better in defence (as seen against St Helens) and he would be a nice addition from the youth system....i can't remember if we have signed Lee Smith permanently? but if not then i hope he goes back to Leeds. Richie Mathers, Ben Cockayne and Peter Fox impressed massively under the high ball as that has been our weak point this season and it was a delight to see them jump confidently and almost with ease against the likes of Ryan Hall and Ben Jones-Bishop.

The Rhinos couldn't handle the connection between Tim Smith and Danny Washbrook/Frankie Mariano, they broke tackles every time they took on the line and on 2-3 occasions made a clean break and that is where I believe we are much stronger than Leeds as they rely on the pace and aggression of their young backs - Jones-Buchanan, Peacock, Ablett, Delany and co. don't have the power and precision that our forwards have....although it did constantly get me out of my seat that we didn't stop Peacock offloading!

Yet all in all i'm not going to be a bitter Wakefield fan and say we were cheated or the referee blew us the game as Leeds' tries were mostly off the back of our mistakes and IF Washbrook would have made that pass....who knows, we may all be celebrating. Brilliant season and effort by all the players and staff, looking forward to the 2013 season!

This is something that i commented on, Ellis for me offers far more to the team and we look more structured with him on, his defense is also much better than Woods, but Agar seems to rate Woods highly.

But alas I think there won't be a place for Ellis when Aiton is fit again, and probably will be moved on.

Overall been delighted with the second half of the season, but looking from the outside the treatmeat of Ellis has'nt been great.

Hope Ellis is still here as he offers something from acting half that neither Aiton or Wood offer and that is quick and accurate distribution. No coincidence that our winning run included Ellis back in the team. May sound harsh on Wood, but I would have Aiton/Ellis as first choice next season

Congratulations to the rhinos they did what they had to; they are a champion side.
We've had a taste of what's to come a year ahead of time IMO.
Anything negative I've said about RA and JE Fir employing him i humbly take back, in defeat I am very proud to be a Wakefield fan and to have stood amongst so many wonderful fans all season home and away.
Can't wait for 2012.

Yes I've already eaten my humble pie once or twice on here. Didn't see this coming but I am not proud and would rather be eating the humble pie than moaning about crap performances. What we have achieved this last 1/3 of the season is one of the biggest achievements in my time watching Trinity, so well done one and all

Quote: El Rey "I'd rather the thread continued in the " proud mode"

Washy is and has been a ROCK all season, he wanged a absolute howler of a pass and he'll be gutted about it.

No need to haul him over the coals for one mistake imo.'"

To be fair to him, the player he was trying to pass to I thought had a Leeds defender in his path and he was trying to thread the ball through the eye of a needle and push the fwd pass laws to the limit to what might well have been our last chance for a try in time to push for a win...it didn't come off but I wouldn't be having a go at him for it. The lads just need to take a look at the vid and learn how to keep cool and keep the pressure on against good defences rather than force a pass...the ones earlier in the match were the ones that cost us. But PROUD...GOD YES. The goal line defence in the 2nd half was amongst the best I've seen all season by anybody. Whilst our attacking ability has been evident most of the season, the strides we've made in defence have been amazing and the absolute 100% commitment near brought a tear to me eyes!! Well done Trinity!!

Score line doesn't do the game justice. I thought it was a very entertaining game of Rugby League and frankly the best Wakefield performance I can remember for a time. Leeds had to give everything and played some really good stuff themselves to beat you.

I screamed at Washbrook like he was still a Hull FC player after that "pass". Such a shame as the break was a good one and I honestly think that if you had scored that try, you would have rolled on for the win.

Little consolation probably, but your lads have set a really good foundation for next season imo.

Certainly no disgrace last night - even when the game was gone from us we were giving it everything. After another rollercoaster season that was a fine note to bow out on. We competed all the way, played some good rugby and if a few more passes had stuck then maybe, just maybe, it could have been a different story. Leeds were worth their win and I don't think I've felt so positive after a Trinity loss before.

Proud doesn't cover it.

Proud of the boys last night, we played some good rugby for most parts and looked a very competent playoff side. Just a shame about some of the errors and things that didnt quite come off, if Washbrook had given that pass i would have fancied us to pip it at the end.
Leeds were just more clinical and had that extra bit of class at the end of the day, the scoreline wouldnt have been as one sided but we had no choice than to resorted to all out attacking rugby in the last 5-10mins which didnt quite come off for us, and Leeds took advantage. I thought the forward pass call earlier in the game when cockayne was put clear was dubious aswell and could have changed the shape of things when we were already in the lead. A bit frustrating when they got away with ones worse than that on consecutive occasions. Bring on next season.
