Ben at 7 looks like the kind of plan you'd have if everything else on the field was tip top tickety boo and injuries forced you to put in a makeshift no.7. And I'm sure he'd do a good job, under the circumstances. Unfortunately, against Cas it'll make no difference, because we'll be out-muscled in the forwards, and the new half-back pairing will look as bad, if not worse, than the old one.
If Steve McNamara had called this one, we'd be calling him a moron.
Pick the best players in their positions, and make it quite clear to them that losing is not an option. End of.

Is McGoldrick still banned???

| So it would seem - I didn't realise.
Doing them a favour - I reckon most Cas fans would like to see him banned on a permanent basis.

Doing our players a favour, unless Chase goes in with the elbow again too.

I only wish the last line was so simple. Still reckon we could sacrifice a HB if it meant keeping the lid on Chase!
Ref SM - he is already!

It isn't simple - it means the players we've got have to raise their game, which is what we want and expect from a derby, after all. And if they get some confidence from that, maybe they'll kick on.
We can't deny we're short in vital positions, and as I've pointed out before, even Agar recognised that fact at the start of the season.
We've got what we've got. We have to go with it. Are we going to support it, or what?

| Form is against us. It's 4-1 to Cas in the last 5 SL meetings. They've scored over 30 in all games bar the one they lost (but still managed 24). We didn't score more than 30 in any.
I expect more of the same on Saturday; them more than 30, us less than 30.
As in RL in general, defence is the key. If we can stop them from scoring (i.e. stop Chase from performing) we can win it, but they're not a one man team

| To me Cockayne has always looked as if he has the makings of a scrum half.
As I stated on another thread Mathers worth a try at stand off, but too risky putting both at half back together for this one.
Would it not be possible for Mathers to drift in to stand off role more often throughout the game with someone covering at the back.

| at the moment, wakefield are poor, lack any cohesion or desire to win and grind it out, coach under a bit of pressure, players appear not to have any desire for the badge.
repeat above exchanging cas for wakefield.
too close to call, with both fans expecting the other side to win!!

| Most bookies have Cas as favourites. They are giving us +4.
Underdogs tag may suit us?
Bloody hope so!!

Really?
More a case IMHO of - to mis quote the great man - We are playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.
We have options.

Would imagine so, if he was banged up for D&D he'd have been free to go the morning after
