| I expect a exciting close encounter with us just taking the spoils,
FWIW I think the Widnes is by far the better prepared club to come up from the championship

| Widnes will take some beating because of the circumstances surrounding the fixture, if this had been round 3/4 I'd be more confident of a Wakey win, saying that though we have a lot to prove ourselves. It's no surprise people are tipping Widnes TBH, I'd tip Widnes to beat Salford, Quins and Bradford if they were playing in the same fixture as us.

| i will put my neck on the line and pick us for the win. it will be close. i can see our "big game players" such as lauititi been the difference.
widnes 18 wakefield 26
we will not run away with it, as i don't think we will be allowed to (if you know what i mean...)

On thread drift:
[quote="tb":24qn1m99]Tough. Conversations develop. It's their nature.[/quote:24qn1m99]
Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
[i:24qn1m99]There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back![/i:24qn1m99]

| If we had our full squad to pick from, I think Widnes would win this one. We haven't recruited as badly as some, lazy, journos have assumed we have. However, we have too many key players out tomorrow night and I think Wakey will probably edge it. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong.
I didn't think we'd get this fixture a few months ago, but I'm genuinely glad we are getting it, and that you are still in Super League.
By the way, according to Terry O'Connor on William Hill's Super League preveiw, the club has sold 8,000 tickets. So, it should be an absoloute belting atmosphere.
Enjoy the game and safe jouney to those making the trip o'er t'hill.

| Some very confident Wakefield fans. I don't blame you, I do the same with widnes. I wouldn't take us too lightly though. Looking at our squad I would make you favourites but who knows. Our biggest loss is watts, Flynn and briscoe are also missing along with phelps. Wakefield have made some decent signings but the way some of you go on make it sound like your signings are amazing.
Watts, cross, Clarke, Moore, briscoe and phelps to name a few are some very big signings IMO for a club that's new to the league.
I won't wish you look but wish you safe travels tomorrow hoping you bring a good following as predicted. Will be interesting seeing smith and johnnteaming up.

Not sure about the ones you listed being very good.
Clarke, Moore and maybe briscoe although lost form last year.
Phelps is steady, cross hasn't broken any pots in SL despite playing at top teams. He did get knocked out twice in one game though .
In all seriousness nobody is taking wishes lightly. The fact it's the first SL game, you have home advantage is reason enough for wakey to be cautious.
Wishes have signed better than Salford at least IMO. There has been alot more investment in wakefield 2012 and I feel we are being underestimated but.. Wouldn't have it any other way
Just hoping for a good game

A Widnes Fans Prediction...
With such a new squad, how can we call it? I havent even looked at Widnes' squad. That's the trouble these days. Journeyman merrygoround means it's impossible to read early on. We'll know after a few games. I think we may win but very close I would expect.

| When Stevo tipped against us, how many times did he refer to 'the Widnes outfit' and did he, by any chance, remark that Dennis Betts and/or Richard Agar have got to 'get the message out there?'
I've missed lots of things about the SL season, but that divot isn't one of them.
