As opposed to a club that is dumped on by players; what goes around comes around, dog eat dog, looking after No1 etc. etc. etc.

In an ideal world of course nobody would be dumping on anyone else (its all gone a bit specialist german porn all of a sudden!!!).
However i do think that the club should always act with honour, even if its employees and other clubs dont, thats me on my high horse!!
If these players are signed (it would appear by JE?) and no longer part of the plans (of RA), as with Obst and Mathers (at other clubs), they do not have to go and can play hard ball until they get a deal that suits them, it all starts to get a bit naughty, and thats a shame.
As much as i dont want to see the reputation of the club harmed, it may put to bed the "Agar was always coming" question.

| There's far too much sentimentality amongst some fans when it comes to player negotiations and the immediate assumption when someone moves on that they've been 'dumped on' is plain silly; all of these lads have agents and you can bet your bottom dollar that when a player under contract leaves the club, his agent has made damn sure that it's on terms that are favourable to his client.
For a long time, we were the club that players only came to after they'd exhausted all other avenues; the recruitment we've made for next season shows that the new regime has already dispelled some of that perception and I'm sure that will only get better. One thing that RA can demonstrate a proven track record of is attracting quality signings and he appears to be a coach that players like and respect.
Now - can we please get over Ryan Tongia?

I am led to believe that Agar sees Aiton as being the main linchpin for next season, and IF we do get him, then we will just have to wait and see if he is right (along with ALL the new signings TBF) .......however, assuming Tongia IS now on quota, I would hope that if Aiton does not come, that we sign Tongia instead. Yes, we have only seen very little of him, but the bits that we have seen contained moments of pure genius (admittedly not all the time), but the guy has the x-factor, which is a very rare thing, and I am sure with the right coaching he could soon be a world class player, and to quote several comments above, could very easily come back to haunt us !!!!!

Unless your source is Richard Agar, then you can't state his view about Aiton as fact, can you?

that's the problem do we do we not.
what happened to the french scrum half Maxime Greseque that we desperately extended his short contract to prevent other clubs getting him off us in the fear that he would come back to haunt us
FWIW I do like the look of Tongia but he would have to work through the ranks of the second team for me to prove his worth.
would he be willing to put up for a year or so there

I think the view on our youngsters is that they have some developing to do before becoming 1st choice selections. Some (most) need physical conditioning that befits a SL player, some need coaching in the finer skills of the position they play, some need an attitude adjustment and some need a confidence/self belief infusion. Those that respond over the next few months will get the chance to make a starting place in the 1st team, their own.
