| For me he should be given the off season to get himself fit, hopefully with the help and guidance of a NEW conditioner.
He should be given very specific goals in terms of fitness and if he doesn't achieve them, then that is the time for him to be shipped out.

| The thing to look at , is he capable of getting fit , if in the clubs opinion ,he is . Then I would agree with your post , but unfortunately , it would appear he has made very little progress towards this goal so far.

| I think Jarrad would be a good player if he had much better fitness. He has had some good runs and can score tries if he's in the right place so get fit Jarrad and score more tries !!

| It would appear we will have to keep Hickey, so we will have to make the best of it.
My biggest worry is this. It is widely believed in RL circles that if a player drops out of the game for any period of time there is a risk he will never get it back.
Players bodies get used to the pain inflicted on them from a very young age. RL being the impact sport it is makes this issue more critical than in any other sport.
Hickey has effectively not played or trained properly for nearly a year. Added to that he has made absolutely no effort to retain basic fitness and condition in that time. He has been here since May and has stubbornly refused to respond to all the training and conditioning I'm assuming he's getting.
My fear is good though he was and perhaps determined as he may be to regain it he has slipped to far to recover. To get back to the player he was will require huge will power - a trait he seems to lack. Some players manage it but many more don't. I just don't think he has it in him to take the knocks or find the motivation. Hope I'm wrong.
If I could think of a way to dump him UI would, it's not personal it's just a risk I'm not sure we should take.

| Trouble is vastman he has a contract and it would depend on its wording as to if it was a costly move.We owe it to him to give him chance as he owes it to the club to give it his best shot for next season.

It's not about chances or who owes what, as I clearly stated we are stuck with him unless we can come up with some slight of hand. The point is that IMO with the best will on both sides it may be to late and he is effectively shot as a player.

| Yes mate will agree with you how many have been out for a time and came back half the player.Much the same as a boxer once out of the game for a period not many can make the come back in a tough old game.Lets face it it all depends on his determination and can our new coach motivate him to do it.Unfortunatly he came at a time when no one else would so suppose the only way to get him was the deal he got and I cant see it being a block buster of a deal.Thank heavens we have come to the end of that road where we could not pull any one in.
