"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall" "I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg

Is this not the case in this instance?:

"If a temporary structure or building will be in use for longer than 28 days, then according to the law, you should apply for planning permission"

You thought wrong. And if it didn't have a safety certificate we wouldn't be able to play in it now!

Quote: gerr'emonside "Dont get this? I thought BV was due to be ripped down at the end of the season regardless as the planners that owned it wanted to build and the ground was condemmed due to a lack of safety certificate (as was the case with KR) - Seems a bit strange to me that your now stopping?'"

Yes of course! How silly of everyone else involved to forget that it's been condemned and is due to be ripped down at the end of the season.

Thanks for reminding us - back to the drawing board chaps!

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]:

I thought that was the case - is it not? I thought you playing out of there in 2012 was not an option as the developers who own the ground wanted you out and you werent able to get a further safety certificate?

Quote: bren2k "Is this not the case in this instance?

Is this wakey paying lip service to the licencing criteria though - errect a temporary stand for 28 days, get the licencing re-stampped, then apply for retrospective planning. If it has to come down wakey then wont be bothered because their licence is stamped for another 3 years and you will just continue to play out of a ground that is not SL standard. IMHO if your serious about wanting to remain in SL you need to pull your finger out and get your new ground sorted and accept a year at barnsley as saints have done at widnes!

Well that's easy for you to say, but I don't think the north terrace vole and bat colonies will see it quite the same way!

When you don't know what you're talking about its common practice to shut the proverbial up!

If you want the answers to your questions get trawling the board. They are all on here somewhere, enjoy.

Thats why i was asking the question - as I have obviously missed something - The last I heard you couldnt remain in BV beyond the end of the season but now your re-developing? Just cant understand it or how it is ever going to work?

Dig up that terrace and there's no telling what you might find underneath. Celtic remains, the Ark of the Covenant, otter droppings....

You're months behind; if you really want to know, the truth is out there - I certainly don't intend to sum up three months in the life of WTW, simply because you can't be ar5ed to read it for yourself.

FFS! I was asking for a one sentence answer re why you can now remain at BV in light of previous safety issues and the owners wanting you out before the end of 2011 as this has not been explained anywhere in the media to my knowledge! If you know why dont you say instead of being deliberately obtuse and expecting me to trawl through thousands of posts!

not aware of any safety issues. however without being able to see into the future we can assume that if its safe now then something would have to happen to change this.(earthquake/plane crash etc) unless you know something we dont.

re the ownership of the ground.
it seems that an agreement has been reached to allow wakefield to remain there until the new stadium is ready.

The problem is mate... you can't answer that question in one sentence, it is complex at best... well I can't answer most questions in one sentence... but that is just me! icon_wink.gif
