| Quote: Trojan Horse "As crusaders go and harlequins the only things they have over wakey are stadia and expansion.
Crowds at wakey while not best in league are far better.
Marketing is better at wakey especially now and before.
Youth - better performing youth teams and more players from Wakey flying around at the top of Sl through to the depths of nl.
Community - again better with school links and Easter camps, tag teams, gala, etc.
As for finance - we beat cru as we have both been in admin but cru still repaying a debt to rfl and not as sustainable as wakey at present. As for quins well not sure here but with their crowds they must be struggling in a self sustaining way but being reliant on a sugar daddy to make up alot is negative. It is ok but on a lesser scale .
So overall if it's looked at as a whole package we should be in a stronger position.
Unfortunately you can have all the stadia you want but if you don't have the support base of fans and haven't been able to raise it over a few years then it doesn't bode well for those teams'"
And thats why the RFL fall down, we dont have the weakest application and we don't own an empty shiny new stadium but i expect us to get the bullet.
I can understand the let downs the RFL have suffered from our club BUT if they can't see with a new owner and the way everythings improved at the club in a short space that we are not worth hanging on to then they are blind at best and stupid at worst.
This clubs on the up right across the board, what we need is the same sort of vision they have shown for Cru and Quins.

Also just take a step back and lets look at the strides the Council have made over these past few years, we may not have our new stadiums yet but take a look at what has happened in the district. We have the Glasshoughton complex with Xcape, we have the new Hepworth Gallery opening shortly which will kick start the Waterfront Development. We have the New Trinity Walk opening next month which eill breathe life back into the surrounding city centre area. We have the Civic Quarter and the new development of Westgate Station and extra mainline London trains. We have the new Pinderfields Hospital. Plus we have some outstanding tourist attractions such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park and some of the best travel networks in the region.
The District of Wakefield is on the up and lets add in the Stadiums and sporting facilities for the public of wakefield district and there's another compelling argument.
Take a look at Wakefield now and it is probably undergoing it's most radicle change in a generation.

It's all very exiting for those of us who have lived our lives in Wakefield
New swimming baths due to begin construction soon as well.

When removing a mistake/misprint in an article, it makes more sense to make no reference to it at all than draw attention to it from those who didn't read it with the error.

I don't see how you could say your community scheme is better than ours. We are developing and promoting the game from Hove to Northampton, whereas yours is solely based in and around the Wakefield area. There are also more schools in London playing RL, than in 'hotbeds' such as Leeds and Hull (that line is taken from RLW article). We also have all the above that you've mentioned as to why your community is better than ours.

Good post I totally agree we are looking better off the field than we have looked in years and years I mean that also in such a short space of time. They could give us a ultimatum which i think would be better than just booting us out i.e. if newmarket doesnt get passed next year then you guys are out for halifax.

| We also interlink with schools outside the locality and have wide reaching dance classes, link in with education and all ages not just school but rugby for dads and lads through to women.
Gala days, dinners, auctions etc. The community side at wakey have done the club proud even when it all went wrong off season.
I think on this front we do well and If you've linked in with that wide a catchment area so well then how come you can't see the results of people walking through the turnstiles? Not a dig but wouldn't it be better to localise a little more and not try and expand your marketing/ community work too far afield.
Wakefield focus on their own catchment mainly and this is how it should be. Or should we expand and dilute our community teams influence by linking with schools, teams in cleckheaton.., I think not.

| At the end of it all there will be pros and cons in every teams franchise app. We won't get to see them.
It's a shame we have to discuss this side of the sport as fans tbf. I'm sure each team does there best at all aspects.
It should all come down to performance and having earned the right or lost the right as it goes. Promotion and relegation should never have been shelved but here we are.

Yes but if you look at the quality of clubs that the Wakefield and Castleford area have the quality easily outweighs the quantity. It's ok saying there are more clubs playing in London area but are nowhere near the level of our clubs. If you look at other teams and did your research you can see that each club contains someone who has either played at Cas or wakey or has come from the area.

| Cleckheaton used to have a RL team, I played against them and John Bentley played for Cleckheaton RU.
